What gives you the impression that it was just tabloid speculation?
Well the allegations clearly don't meet Wikipedia:BLP. Otherwise they'd be mentioned as fact on his Wikipedia article.

Yeah, I was always under the impression that the election makes you eligible for being a member, but your not actually a member until you turn up and sign the oath. Like taking a MENSA test makes you eligible for membership of MENSA, but you're not actually a member until you give them your money (which action should be evidence enough to disqualify you). But regardless, he was effectively an MP so it doesn't matter one way or the other.

He was highly embarrassing though
I stand by my answer. The question was "national embarrassment"
You don't think he qualifies as a national embarrassment? The man who, leaving aside all the violence and murderous acts of evil, kept quiet about his niece being sexually abused by his brother for seven years after he found out? Not a national embarrassment?
Bad publicity in the tabloids is not the sort of national embarrassment that that might bring about a lump of coal in his stockings on Christmas morning. Granted, Santa sees all, but since none of that tabloid stuff is proven, we can't expect to find coal in the stockings. Given then wording of my question, I think that we got the correct answer.

Even when this game is this close to overtake the number it has been played here compared to the number of mafia games (disregarding the mini's), it's still only the 76th game.
As they say in Foxcastle, au contraire! Look a little more closely at the list of completed games. This is the 77th game.
if you refer to the two games numbered with 68, there is no game 69 so it doesn't increase the total number.
I was referring to 38. Not sure what happened back then, but the list of completed games in the OP of these threads has for a long time included the following parenthetical quote: "repeated numbering".

He was Member of Parliament for Belfast West for a number of years. He did not sit in Parliament, but he was the elected Member.

Right, he was certainly an embarrassment for the UK. But was he for his nation, Ireland?

According to the UK Parliament website:

"Mr Gerry Adams is no longer a Member, but was most recently the Sinn Féin MP for Belfast West, and left the Commons on 26 January 2011."

So according to Parliament itself, he was a member of it.

Ok Damo, interesting pick.
But would Adams describe himself as a former Member of Parliament?
Yes. An abstentionist one.

Jerry Adams was never an Member of Parliament because he refused to swear the iath, surely? I don't recall seeing him with a gun, though

Q9 gave me difficulties
I can see why - but he was born in Belfast and was therefore a British citizen from birth. So you gave the correct answer.

Actually holding a gun though?
Yup....
Well I couldn't and still can't so my answer was valid.
My mistake - the main thing I found was a picture Gerry Adams re-tweeted featuring another dark-haired, glasses-wearing Irish republican, holding a gun - I was incorrect.

Hmmm... I guess it's something of a grey area. But for the sake of the game it seems passable.

The embarrassing question, not so much. I can't think of many people who had more to be embarrassed about
