That's humans for you. They do get over-excited about the strangest things.

Still, better getting excited about a chap who calls for peace and goodwill than for the performance of a football team or a pair of fashionable sports shoes. Or, as you said, a bunch of musical performers. And probably better to get excited about silly things from time to time than to never get excited at all.

I am not generally anti-Catholic or even anti-religious (except philosophically), but watching the scenes of these people screaming and crying like teenaged girls at a Beatles concert had me shaking my head. This is sick, cultish behaviour. Deranged.

I don't know what everyone is so excited about
A 2,000 year old institution with ~1.4 billion adherents picked a new leader—a man who will have a considerable impact on the moral and theological thinking of our time. Seems interesting to me and I'm not a Catholic.

Trump's tariffs are so effective, even Popes are now made in America!

Millions have gathered in Rome to catch a first glimpse of which decrepit old 70+ year old man will be the new pope. Stay tuned for possibly a hip replacement if they are able to walk out under their own power.
