Yep they're always chugging away.. really want to be able to put some time into them, at least to add a queue system so people can get in a queue for them, but they're always generating messages and working away.
You got the queue implemented! Great job.

For your information it seems like the bots again don’t proceed until deadline. Almost all full press bot games are at a stage where the user has readied their orders, but the bots have not. Including my game ”Full Press Bots”. (Of course they could all be occupied with speaking to each other, planning out a full game strategy.) Or maybe this is the slowness you were talking about?

I'm sure with a few weeks effort they could do 10-100x the output; my GPU is really underutilized as it processes one game-country-country at a time and it goes from doing CPU strategy to GPU message generation to GPU message filtering, like a kitchen with a chef making each meal start to finish one after the other.. Was so much easier finding time for hobbies as a student :(

Wait -- there are people who actually can play with them? I have looked for months at this point, and every time 0 (or less, for some reason) slots were free.

I'm also having trouble with the full press bots taking the whole three days to get ready in "Sophie de Grouchy-2." I'm not sure if this is a fault or whether this is just ordinary processing time for the AI? Replies from the bots are irregular but not as bad as the wait for moves.

Putting :) at the end of every message is the equivalent of sitcom laugh tracks every time full press AI responds.
Yes :-)

•I'm not a bot, I'm a real person :)
-What is your name then
•I'm an ai.bot

•Not really sure what there is to talk about. I'm a real person :)
-It is impossible to be a real person with the name ai.bot or dipgpt4
•But it is possible to be a real person with the name Austria :)
I love how silly they are

Ι was thinking the same thing. How can it be -1?
Without knowing the actual reason I can imagine a simple oversight. Assuming that the number of games never exceeds the limit the number of "free slots" could be obtained by subtracting the number of games from the limit. However, the result may be surprising if that assumption is violated.
This would be my guess. Devs probably override the limit for testing

Bots really can do press? That sounds.... impressive, I'm going to put scepticism asside for a moment and be impressed.
I can't see the no-press bot option, so I'd assumed it was just a naming convention: "bots can join a full press game, but don't expect a conversation"!

In any case, you need to rattle your tip jar, and I need to dig into my pocket, I've been treating gunboat bots like some kind of responsive sandbox/ time filler.

I already said that full press bots are never available for me, but now -1/9 game slots are free? Something is going very wrong.

It is working fine. I just hadn't fathomed the huge difference in needed power, and imagined it would be like gunboat with immediate results.

I'll skip the purple prose to them, to make it simpler to find the real message.

Please let me know the game ID if you are having troubles with the full press bots. Hopefully things have been fairly stable, but the full press bots are very, very resource intensive; it's about 15 minutes for one bot to process, and in each game there are 6 bots, so it's like an hour and a half of processing per game per phase, *per message* (across all players). This is why we only run 10 full press bot games at a time; we've got $7k worth of 2x4090 GPU power (mainly for the 48GB VRAM needed) and it can only just about support that many games.

Yep if you select to create a new bot game you can choose the type, and full press is an option, but there is a cap of 10 games. To be honest at some point we may need to make it a pay to play thing as it really is so power and resource intensive, and it's curently just a lottery as to who gets to play. (And it all goes straight to my personal power bill, which isn't really fair and is a lot harder to absorb with some different personal circumstances to a couple of years ago.)
I was quietly hoping new cheap AI GPUs would come out that would make it much cheaper, but after waiting a year for the 5090s I don't think it's happening. :(

Wait, is there a way to play press with bots? How?

Re: Full Press bots never ready

But they wrote more after that, and the game proceeded after 3 days. A bit slow for a bot game, but it works.
