What was the best release in 2011, and why was it Dark Souls?

Skyward sword clears, simple as that. great game, awesome gameplay, and a lot of new lore. Also it's the start of the zelda timeline, which is cool.

minecraft has objectively the most sales of any 2011 release, so a mention is deserved.

2011 was a ridiculously stacked year, and it’s pretty awesome having to choose between some of my favorite games of all time just from one year of releases…

Skyrim, Terraria, Dark Souls, Skyward Sword, COD Black Ops 2, Dead Space 2…

^Black ops 2 was 2012 :) my personal favorite Modern Warfare 3 was the yearly release of 2011

You're absolutely right. Whatever list I pulled up had BO2 for some reason. Modern Warfare 3 was great too!
