INTRODUCTION

Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game (for the town majority) is to kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game.

VOTING

There are three types of voting within this game: collective voting to execute perceived Mafia in Day phases, collective voting to end a Day or Night phase, and Mafia voting to kill town members in Night phases.

“Daykill” vote: The first level of voting is for whom you intend to kill. Notate this vote with a pair of hash symbols before your intended vote target. (e.g., ##VOTE KESTAS) You do not need to spell out your intended target's username fully; as long as the GM can understand who you're referencing. In the event of a tie during an execution vote, no one shall be killed.

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not use double hashtags your vote will not be counted.

Must Vote: At the end of the Day phase, all participating players must have their vote on a candidate. You may ##VOTE and then ##UNVOTE if you change your mind as the Day progresses, however you may not end the phase with an ##UNVOTE in place. Anyone violating this rule will be modkilled unless there are very extenuating circumstances, determined solely by the GM. Ending the day with a vote on “##No Kill” or "##vote No Kill" is permitted.

Hammer Vote: The second level of voting is whether or not to employ the hammer mechanic. By default, days are set to 48 hours long, and nights to 24 hours long; however, players may instead elect to activate the hammer mechanic. Notate this vote with a pair of hashes before the word end. (EX: ##END). The day will end as soon as a majority of players are voting to endhammer the same player. If you are not able to vote before the hammer is dropped, you will not be penalized for failing to vote during that day. Night phases may not normally be hammered - any exception to this will be announced by the GM.

Mafia Vote: The third level of voting refers to Mafia members choosing their factional NK (nightkill) targets during Night phases. The mafia members will use their separate Discord thread to discuss this. Mafia NK will be decided by majority vote and posting the result of their vote in the Mafia-Night-Actions thread. In the event of a tie, the NEWEST vote will break the tie.

Vanilla Town: You're a Vanilla Town - you're not special. Make sure to kill scum each day by voting for them... or your other townies... You win when the scum team is eliminated.

Cop: You're the Town Cop! You have a lot of responsibilities. Each night, you can scan the alignment of any player by submitting a ##scan order to the GMs via PM on Webdiplo or Discord. Don't screw this up! You win when the scum team is eliminated.

Doctor: You're the Town Doctor! For such a small town, you'd think they would employ more doctors... but nope, you're it! Each night, you can ##save a person from death if they are the target of the Mafia NK by submitting a ##scan order to the GMs via PM on Webdiplo or Discord. Good luck guessing those targets! You win when the scum team is eliminated.

Mafia Goon: You're a Mafia Goon! Oh snap, aren't you lucky! Time to see if you can uphold the current tradition of scum teams destroying town teams in Vanilla games! Don't worry, no pressure if you fail! Your teammates are listed on the Discord server, which you must join to submit your night kill votes and partake in your scum chat during night phases.

Mafia Godfather: You're the Mafia Godfather! Phew, if you're bad at playing scum, at least you don't need to worry about being caught by the Cop - you will scan as town if targeted by the Cop. Mafia 86: Accidents Happen... - Game Start Post
He took a deep breathe. It was nearly time. He tried for months to get an audience or hearing, but everytime the Emperor was busy or an emergency caused a rescheduling.

But this time he will have the time to talk to him about the plans to invade and increase the size of the realm (and get a chunk of it himself). He knew the Emperor would be willing to support him in this cause, and with the Hoftag now finally starting, there's nothing that will stop him to talk to his majesty.

Finally the ceremony opened with a fanfare of trumpets. The announcer called out all the names and titles of the people entering. It was a huge event in this small Petersberg Citadel, a bit too small for his liking. He had to share the space with some minor nobles and the room will be bursting after everyone has entered. Ah well, it mattered not, he just needed to talk to the Emperor, Henry VI, about his idea and plans. Surly nothing can go wrong now.

Person after person entered the assembly hall in the second floor, where the Emperor resided in a stonern alcove. Bit by bit, the room grew hotter and hotter on this late summer day. Voices and chatter sounded all around him from all the people trying to discuss the latest feud between Thuringia and Mainz which interrupted the Emperors plans to invade Poland. The wooden floor trembled from all the feet going up and down in the tiny hall.

He made it before the Emperor; finally, it's his time, and glory and splendor will come to his house. "God bless your majesty" he said, kneeling down on the floor in front of the Emperor in a swift motion. He waited before he continued to speak for the Emperors reaction, when he heard some creaking sounds from below. His eyes went to the wooden floor and saw a crack wandering along it, bending downwards.
Suddenly, a loud crack sounded through the room and he saw the Emperor ascending upwards. Also he felt no more floor below his feet. The Emperor could only watch in his stone alcove as the noble applicant broke through the wooden floor and fell down, taking the whole room of people with him in the descend downwards.

The first thing after was another loud crash, as the whole mix of people, furniture and floor broke through another wooden floor, then a loud splash followed by a disgusting smell. The survivers of the fall tried to get out of the liquid they landed in, but those who didn't die on impact, mostly drowned in it or suffocated on the fumes.

The Erfurt Latrine Disaster

-) during a Hoftag in the Petersberg Citadel in Erfurt (Holy Roman Empire)

-) around 60 people died (either by being crushed by debris, due to the fall, drowning in the latrine cesspit or suffucated on its fumes)

-) Emperor Henry VI, King of Germany (and later Holy Roman Emperor) survived in a sone alcove, but needed to be rescued later with the help of ladders
