The 7 letter word test came out of your reaction to ghug's question. Ghug didn't later come back to the initial question so it makes me think that he was either satisfied with your response or didn't believe it was a productive line of questioning. I want to know which and why.

some of my teachers have culminating projects that definitely aren't finals (i wrote a 12 page paper on mozambique, for ex), but there's no special finals category in the gradebook

I read this as you voted Damo because you wanted to vote someone and Damo was easy, possibly because he had posted the (tie-)smallest non-zero amount. Is that accurate?
