02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: Hello everyone. Egypt, would you be open to a Non-Aggression Pact between us? Thanks! |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: Good luck to all. I quite enjoy Mediterranean games, so I look forward to this. @Rome I suspect you would prefer Sicilia to Sardinia. I would prefer Gaul, Tarraco, and Lusitania to all be DMZ'd. @Egypt Obviously Cyrene is yours and Nimidia is mine. I would prefer our relationship to be amicable, but for what reason should I allow you Leptis? @Greece & Persia Good luck to the two of you. I suspect we will have further interactions later in the game, but for now I would merely suggest that Greco-Persian alliances do well. |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @all: good game everyone! @Carthage: I can agree to that. @Greece: What about a DMZ in Ionian Sea, Epirus, Illyria and Sarmatia? |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @Persia: Want to form an alliance? |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @Persia, I would like to form an alliance with you. I can be the one who holds Carthage, since he was arrogant enough to only with luck NOT to his neighbors. @Rome, I'm open to work against Carthage. |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @ Greece + Persia I am flattered that you are both asking to ally. It will be tough to chose just one of you, so I will have to mull it over. Unless you are both open to pushing west next year as Triple Alliance, that is. |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: Obviously, I meant that last message to you as well Egypt. |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @ Egypt Let me know what you think of the division in the holy land. I am open to letting you have Jerusalem. I could understand why you might prefer heading west, however, given Carthage's saber rattling over Leptis. |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @Persia and Greece: if you(Persia) meant Egypt and Greece, I can definitely agree to press on Carthage and only take Petra and never send anything beyond Sinai/Petra area as well will not send any fleet past GOP (and will not even send there, if you grab TYre and Jer and keep # of your units at our border to a minimum). as of right now, my main enemy is Carthage and it be stay this way all game. |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @Egypt that sounds like the smartest course. That allows Greece and I coordinate together if we choose to head west. I will definitely DMZ our border along Petra/Jerusalem next year. I am always a big fan of peace in the middle east. |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @Egypt I'm not sure why you're so furious Egypt? I wished luck to everyone. I advised Greece and Persia to team up, which they seem to both be amicable towards. I merely asked why I shouldn't block you out of Leptis. Had you said because we could work together, I probably would have let you have it. @Rome Oh well, this looks interesting. Rome, would you like to form a defensive alliance? I think it's reasonable that we align ourselves in case of what appears an imminent attack. @Greece 3 way alliances from the East leave Persia precious few SC's to take. He will betray either you or Egypt when you're at your most vulnerable. I hope it's not you. @Persia Sorry, but really... a triple? I can't let you get away with that. I like your style, though. Good luck! |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @Greece I hope you are not swayed by Carthage. I feel that we can keep a buffer of DMZ in Turkey, and I can just send armies west from Chersonesus so that there is very little chance of my stabbing you. The only difficult thing might be coordinating our fleet movements, but even that is relatively simple. |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @Carthage Thankee, sai. I must say I like the cut of your jib as well. |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @Egypt as a sign of good faith, I will only send one unit south towards you to capture Jerusalem, and retreat it northward to Tyre next year. That way you have less to concern you along our border. |
02 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @Persia: sounds good. @Carthage: you are right, you did wish luck to all, my bad, I just did not expect you will write soo many messages )) unfortunately or fortunately )), Persia and I have already agreed on the plan, however I'd like to point out that you can get 3 builds without fighting for Leptis: Num, Sag, Sar. It will be your choice. |
03 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @Egypt That is true, but you can't. You need to fight for your 3rd build- either Leptis or Jerusalem. Why send Alexandria and Memphis my way? Persia easily takes Sinope and Chersonesus in the north and Tyre in the south... why are you granting him Jerusalem. You have just as much right to Jerusalem as you do to Leptis. Also, recall that I never claimed Leptis as mine. I merely asked for a reason to allow you into Leptis. Persia has claimed Jerusalem as his own, as though you have no right to it whatsoever. This also leaves out the entirety of the issue of Cyrpus and Crete. Though historically they're Persian and Greek, you have just as much right to them as you do to Jerusalem and Leptis. Just to recap, you have 3 territories over between you, Persia, and Greece that are as rightfully your's as is Leptis. Why send 2 units towards Leptis when they could be better used securing Jerusalem, the proverbial Munich of the East. We could just bounce Cyrene and Numidia in Leptis and leave it for a later moment. However, Crete, Cyprus, and Jerusalem are much more likely to be taken THIS turn. One final point. A war against me will demand both of us build more armies than fleets. Look at this board and imagine yourself winning with armies. The reason you have trouble doing that is because it can't be done. This game is won by sea power. That's something I usually don't reveal to others, as I see it as a big advantage. However, though I believe I would win a war against Egypt, even with Persia pretending to throw his weight at me as well, I think it would cripple the both of us. Persia or Rome would win due to their capacity to build fleets while Greece tries to traverse the Alps and we destroy ourselves... over Leptis. Over Leptis? |
03 Dec 11 UTC | Spring, 1: @Carthage: I would love to. :-) |
03 Dec 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: Carthage, I never claimed Jerusalem. Here is my initial offer verbatim: Spring, 1: @ Egypt Let me know what you think of the division in the holy land. I am open to letting you have Jerusalem. |
03 Dec 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: I know, it doesn't matter now. Egypt has made his choice, and I have made mine. |
03 Dec 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: @carthage: I'm still open to a defensive or even offensive alliance.. |
