24 Aug 11 UTC | Spring, 1: You are all welcome to share in the benefits of my advanced philosophy. Also my desire to test the interface, with which I am unfamiliar. |
24 Aug 11 UTC | Spring, 1: I think that, no matter what petty differences we may have, we can all agree that the true enemy is the cursed Phoenicians. |
24 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: Despite my best diplomatic efforts, which are considerable, Greece has chosen war with Rome over a very easy and profitable peace. Since both of us will only be getting two builds this year instead of three due to this Grecian tomfoolery, it must raise the question: are they stupid? Whatever your individual answer, it's difficult to see any other result but that Greece and Rome have both been weakened by a meta-game hysteria that would put the Maenads to shame! |
24 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: If only I'd seen the benefits to Greece of conceding all the territory between Greece and Rome to Rome! |
24 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: Perhaps there's a translation problem between the clunky and monotonous Latin spoken by the Romans and the mellifluous and dulcet Farsi language, but it sounds a lot to us as if the Romans have declared war on the Greeks. How can this be? Surely such noble (if under-civilized) nations can see that there is no profit to be had in hostilities. Look at how well we Persians get along with our neighbors - as long as they maintain the borders and keep in their appropriate places, we see no need to raise arms against them. |
24 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: Says the guy with 2/3 of his military might marching straight for the land of the Pharaoh, threatening our long peace and gentle people with their barbarian horde. Bah, I say. Bah. One need only look to the shores of northern Africa to see how proper neighbors behave. |
24 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: Oh fucking hell, pay attention to your convoy orders. |
24 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: Well, the Romans have only declared war on the Greeks after seeing the act of naked aggression called a Greek fleet in the Ionian Sea. But what really gets my goat (don't get any actual ideas, Pericles!) is that his move accomplishes so little. It keeps us both from a third build...and that's all. I'll have taken Dalmatia anyway, but instead of a nice, safe border, he'll have Roman legions all over his ass. Of course, I would never want any of you to know that we have a mad dog loose cannon rogue state on our hands here.... Caesar |
24 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: Carthage, did you mis-order those units, or is there some special convoying convention, as at DipBounced? |
24 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: You always have to specify which ship is acting as convoy, not just holding. |
25 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: Hmm. The Egyptians are a little more, shall we say, feisty than we expected. Petra would have been acceptable (barely - they are part of our natural zone of Persian Hegemony); we are somewhat less sanguine about Jerusalem falling to the Pharaoh. Be warned, Pharaoh - any further aggressive maneuvers will be met with swift response. |
25 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: Pharaoh: Are you suggesting that "proper neighbors" send their armies to clash against each other in futile bloodletting on distant sands? Odd. Anyway, as you know, Tyre is a necessary part of the Persian Hegemony, providing seafood delicacies and rich indigo dyes that we could not obtain elsewhere. |
25 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: (This will teach me to read the thread before writing my messages.) |
25 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 1: These lazy fuckin foot soldiers should've just swam to Sardinia. |
25 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 2: Is there any way we can get these red lines turned off? I'm actually starting to have issues seeing what is where. P.S. I'm old |
25 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 2: You can: a) expand the map via the button between the <<, <, >, >> buttons b) get better glasses gramps, |
25 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 2: What happens when you postpone a build? |
25 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 2: The official Diplomacy rules say you can just decline to build a unit you're entitled to. I think that's what "wait/postpone" means here. Next year, if you still control enough SC to allow more builds, you'll get the chance to build, but if you don't build now, you don't get to build an extra unit some other time. |
25 Aug 11 UTC | Autumn, 2: Come on, Carthago Nova! |
26 Aug 11 UTC | Spring, 3: Egyptus! |
