23 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 4: Farewell, Rome. I will miss you, the one great power that I never got anywhere near.
23 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 4: Farewell, Rome. It was nothing personal, but you left yourself wide open and Greece needed the additional forces.
23 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 5: You were a worthy foe, people of Rome, and you will be missed.
24 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 6: We pausing for Christmas?
24 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 6: I'm thinking paganism is really about to pay off. No.

*unless everyone else wants to*
24 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 6: Only other option for me is to not lock in my moves, because I will be lucky to get ten minutes of computer time the next two days.
24 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 6: Only other option for me is to not lock in my moves, because I will be lucky to get ten minutes of computer time the next two days.
24 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 6: Game has been paused for the holidays. Happy holidays to all!
24 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 6: Thanks all! Happy Holidays!
25 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 6: All right, I am setting to unpause :)
26 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 7: So, is Carthage really the best power on this map, or have the people playing it just gotten a measure of lucky? I would normally say that the separation between it and Rome helps it ally there early to crush Egypt and have a fun time, but this time, they went to Rome and still rocked the house.

I've read that the stats show Rome and Greece being the least successful, and I can definitely see that.
26 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 7: Just looking at it, it seems Carthage has the easiest route. Egypt isn't terribly likely to go after them, since the closer supplies are next door at Persia. That only leaves them Rome to fight with, who likely is going to be busy with Greece.
26 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 7: I don't know. I feel like they've just been good at getting early alliances and gains. Every power really has two neighbors, and the possibility to be squeezed by an alliance of them.
26 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 7: In both games we played on this map Carthage was very strong, Played by two different players.
27 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 7: I'm not entirely sure why Carthage has been so strong in both games, although I have a sneaking suspicion that it has something to do with them taking Baleares both times. Not sure why, just a feeling.
27 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 7: I think really, now that I look at it more, it comes down to the fact that one of the two powers that has a neighbor stand off it does well. Rome stayed off my Carthage, and I stayed off this one.
28 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 8: Really excited to see the endgame here. Obviously going to be Carthage or Greece unless Persia or I pull something crazy off, but how it happens is the real story.
28 Dec 10 UTC Autumn, 8: Yeah, it definitely is going to be interesting. Can't wait to see it progress!
28 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 9: I move that we make an effort to retain the random splotches of purple around the map.

But not a serious effort.
28 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 9: And name a Gulf after us in the far future ;)
