07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Your Holiness, I find your caution appropriate. The Battle of Lepanto was a great victory for Papal and Austrian forces, but it was accomplished by divine intervention--something that can be appreciated but not planned for.
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Did I mention that I really like your hat?
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Hello!
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: The English claim Bel and Nor
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: We have nothing particular to say or ask for, but we want to make sure we're still in the running for the chatty alliance.
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Technical note for all who care: the previous game has been cancelled.

The Sultan welcomes the new German ambassador, and is pleased by your eloquent speech. We were of course not joking when we proposed to exchange ownership of the central cities, we the Turks never joke. We also do not know what sarcasm is. But we are limited by logistics, and we can arrive in Munich within two and a half years at the soonest. Let us revisit the suggestion then.

The sultan has had a very good day, since the Pope and the Duke of Austria have promised not to play a Lepanto. This infamous battle has been one of the greatest embarrasements in the history of the Turkish empire, and we would not like to speak much of it again.

Austria, maybe you have understood us wrongly. In our first post, we have ensured there will not be a Juggernaught. This should be very good news for the Austrian empire, of course. But since it is never beneficial to limit one's options, especially at the start of the game, we keep the possibility of cooperation open. Just as we are keeping the idea of a Turkish-Austrian alliance alive.

The Turkish empire has a problem, a problem that we with Italy. We cannot open non-committal, as our fall move from Bulgaria is bound to favor one of our neighbours more than the other. Italy, we belive you are in such a position as well. If you enter Tyrolia or Piedmont, you have made an enemy in Austria or France. If you start by convoying your Roman army to Tunis, you're playing the first move of an opening we agreed wouldn't be played. Therefore, we would like to ask the pope to reveal his intentions to us (perhaps in some cryptic form, or through your first move?), so we can react accordingly. We wish to ally first and foremost with Italy.
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: The Kaiser of course understands that Turks never employ sarcasm in their diplomatic missives and nor does he believe that you were, as his son puts it, "just kidding around" with the suggestion of ceding the control over Bavaria and Munich in particular for that of Warsaw and Vienna. Of course, he did note with a smile, a wink and a nod that it is easy to promise some other country's possession for that which you seek for yourself.

The Kaiser did wish to stress that any armed entrance into the Alpine highlands of Tyrolia would be met with his severe displeasure. He did explain himself further by saying that he believed the Pope and Archduke shared his sentiments as well. If such is not the case then obviously a diplomatic regrouping should commence forthwith.

There is some concern throughout the German Empire over the Prime Minister of England's announcement of intention to annex Belgium for the British Empire. The British Empire has not set foot on the continent of Europe since the 100 Years War and Belgian people have grown tired of being the stomping grounds of European Armies. Their neutrality should be protected and ensured through the conclusion of 1901 at the least barring a convening of the Conference of Countries Concerned with Belgium once again. The Kaiser stressed that the input of the French Premier would be most helpful here.
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Dear camarad dinosaurs,

We, Stalinosaurus, tsar of all the soviet republics, "Coryphaeus of Science," "Father of Nations," "Brilliant Genius of Humanity," "Great Architect of Communism," "Gardener of Human Happiness," wish to extend our greeting to our fellow camarad dinausors.
and let it be known that thanks to our doomsday machine, any attack against us will bring out the end of dinausor life as we know it.
my secret siberian ninja diplodocus army will eventually be ready one day.
in the mean time, I'm looking forward to work with you for the greater good of saurian communism.

Sultan and Archiduke, let 's happily bounce each other in galicia and black sea, like old friends do ,as remarlably described by your capitalst scientist , isaac isaasovitch Newton , each action has a reaction of opposite direction and as the change of momentum takes effect on the hard russian shell, we should end up at the same initial position.

Pope, as a leader of the communist party, and a convinced atheist, ( if I was not, a Chrisitian orthodox) , I can not agree with your religious view. however let it be peace between us.

Reich chancelor let us happily work together, and I will respect our dmz agreement. let's hope it will last longer that the last agreement I passed with Von Ribentrop.

France , England good luck to you too.

who will be a Diplodocus, who will be a tyranausorus ?
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: The Austrian government is pleased to confirm the Kaiser's positions on Tyrolia and Belgium. Further, I am authorized to acknowledge our preference for a German alliance, with the understanding that we have no hostile intentions toward other nations.

We are greatly disturbed by Russia's decision to remain absent from these discussions. In Russia's absence, we will note that Austria would be willing to release its claim to Greece in exchange for Rumania, with the understand that Greece be occupied only by naval forces.

I hope that this proposal will demonstrate our willingness to overcome the ancient emnity between Austria and Turkey. Given Italy's limited opportunity for expansion, it would be unfair to prevent Italy from entering Tunis.
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: The Kaiser would like all to note that he enjoys hunting and eating his prey. The Danes and Dutch shall soon see how much this is true.
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: The sultan is not as ruthless as the feared Tyrannosaurus rex, and absolutely not as slow as the diplodocus. We compare ourselves to the Triceratops, a peaceful herbivore, but very capable of defending himself from even the most dangerous of predators.
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Tsar - I have faith that you will see the light..

Archduke - I recognize your sovereignty over Rumania and appreciate the offer of Greece.
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Your Holiness,

The Archduke is the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, and not yet engaged in matters of state. The Emperor is the ruler, and I am simply the foreign minister.

More to the point, any Austrian claim to Rumania would have to be confirmed by general agreement among the Great Powers. I appreciate your support, but I have no intention of beginning a course that could lead to general war. Unless Turkey, Germany, and England join with you in agreeing to enforce an Austrian claim to Rumania, we will not initiate a potential conflict with a foe who is both powerful and enigmatic.
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: To Herr Stalinasaurus: Austria agrees to your proposed bounce.
07 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: The Pope, You are content with Tunis to see how this year goes, have you been offered Greece in 1902?
England I agree you can have Belguim but please move throught the North Sea and not the Channel.
Germany we are still all good!

If by and odd chance others can hear this broadcast we regret to inform you that the French cannot open and keep comunications with those more than one player away. we lack the technology, please do not hold this against us.
08 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: We have noticed that Russia has not announced any plans to enter Rumania, and so we assume that Russia will not object to an Austrian move in that direction.
08 Dec 10 UTC Spring, 1901: So Just wondering who England was in the other game I have my guesses but if the first turn is going to be missed then this was all pointless.
08 Dec 10 UTC Since there is no opposition, the Kaiser is wondering if there is no objection to Germany bringing civilization to Belgium? It is so full of anarchy that it is like a massive object with immense gravitational pull, demanding that the German Army enter it.
08 Dec 10 UTC To Germany, how shall we deal with Belguim? Are you planning on grabbng it now? or should we leave it ? what are you thinking?
08 Dec 10 UTC The Kaiser wanted me to tell you that he believes grabbing it now would be the wise move for the near future. As to the long-term disposition he is open to negotiations and could foresee a situation in which Belgian control was ceded to France given the strategic location and influence over the English Channel.
08 Dec 10 UTC You've got to be kidding me. I guess we'll try public press tryout restart restart then?

And look for another seventh one the forum?
08 Dec 10 UTC Btw, Austria, were you really trying a Key Lepanto there? If so, I admire your courage. No guts, no glory!
08 Dec 10 UTC The following is a broadcast from Camarad Stalinosaurus, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Saurian's Commissar for Defense of the Soviet Union.

My fellow camarad dinosaurs, we , Stalinosaurus, are displeased by the capitalist archi-ducking movement into our land of Rumania, we have just made a new species of genetically modified dinosaur: the Ceauşescusaurus, which was perfectly adapted to life on our soviet republic of Rumania.
Rumania is a country for Dinosaur not for Mallard.
What is going to be next my dear Duck, our beloved capital Moscova ?
It is not because, that due to some technichal difficulty radio mocow has kept a radio silence that you must assume that it will be fine to occupy our beloved Sovietic Socialist Saurian republic.

Reich Chancelor, my 1000 poets from the state academy of arts are already preparing the ode to our friendship if you agree to let me occupy Sweden, I will broadcast it all over the dinosaur land.
Therefore my next move are: gulf to Swe , warsaw to gal, and ukrain to Rum with Seb support.

Stalinosaurus,
08 Dec 10 UTC England - Tsk Tsk, I need to know if you are still participating and this is some inane strategy?

France - I am glad I read your lack of confirmation as a rejection of my suggestion as you have tried to invade my sovereign state. I take delight that this will make a stronger Germany. I will fortify our boarder and urge you to turn your military might towards the idle English.

Austria & Turkey - thank you, our alliance is solidified, although if things go well for you and not for me I might request a loan of resources.

Germany - good luck.
08 Dec 10 UTC To Comrade Stalinosaurus:

Your communications were received clearly. You had many opportunities to assert a claim over Rumania, and never did. I suggest that a neutral party can help us arbitrate this dispute.

To the Sultan: neither Russia nor Austria can hold Rumania without Turkish cooperation. Thus, I would like to you arbitrate this debate. If you believe that Rumania is rightfully Russian territory, I will withdraw my forces to Serbia. If you accept my claim to Rumania, I would expect to count on your support against potential aggression.
08 Dec 10 UTC Dear Pope, I feel it was Mutual, I did not beleive you would be content. You wold lose more going to Tyrolia rather then Piement So beleive me mine was a defensive move not an Offensive one.

So are we canceling this game too?
08 Dec 10 UTC Since I am the replacement here I will abide by whatever the original players choose. I'm game either way and will join a restarted "restart".
08 Dec 10 UTC I think, since there was a missed move already, we should restart (again). I'll create a new game, and make a forum post about it (if you didn't understand from context, I was the old Germany). Same strategy: one and a half day join period, and when there's only 7-8 hours left, I release the password on the forum. So make sure you join in time.

but first, I need to think up another appropriate password (I like the reactions this one has received).
08 Dec 10 UTC Oh, and as before, cancel and draw or both okay for me.

As to anonymity, we all know who the replacement is, so maybe it's also fair if we know who the other players are?
08 Dec 10 UTC I think at this point anonymity is a waste of time. Also, we need to be able to mock the people who abandon us.
08 Dec 10 UTC France - you did not agree to the DMZ, but it is still an invasion of my sovereign country. I did not have to go to Tyrolia or Piedmont.... so there. Hope we're neighbors in the next one.

All - ready for restart #2 just let me know the name.
08 Dec 10 UTC Italy, I agree I did not say Yes let DMZ piemont, but If I did would you have stayed in Ven and Rome? I was just trying to think of what you would do. If Austria is your ally I am not only target for you so I was being defensive. Either way I am sure we can cooperate in the other game and in this one if it keeps going.

So are we making the next game not with hidden names? I do not know who germany is.
08 Dec 10 UTC If you had agreed to the DMZ I would have stayed in Ven and Rome. I typically don't like to draw first blood unless someone refuses to communicate with me. Yes - don't worry I don't carry over grudges from game to game.

And I'm ready to find out my new country - let the 'Public Press Tryout restart restart' begin!!
09 Dec 10 UTC Okay, I've created the new game. It's called public press tryout restart restart as promised. I've decided that the new password will be 'Pulp Fiction', because that movie is just awesome.

And, as I said before, it's going to be non-anonymous. I for one know the identity of Germany, and I will also know the identity of the other replacement, since I sent them the password (they also know me, of course). If some names are known, it's fair to let everyone know.

09 Dec 10 UTC embarrassing but I need this game to be canceled so I can join the new one. I have tons of games currently running...
09 Dec 10 UTC Well, then I guess everyone should take a look at the password here, Join the other game, then hit 'cancel' or 'draw'.

Btw, England, what are you doing? You miss your first move, you don't talk at all during a public press game, then you come back without a word? You're being very unreliable, which has caused to restart an interesting game twice. Please know that whatever it is you're doing, you're ruining the fun for other players.
09 Dec 10 UTC England - please vote to cancel/draw or state publicly that you would like to keep going with this game. Do note that if neither of these things happen I will insure by any means possible that you do not win this. (I care more about fun than gamer points)

Austria - since you have communicated you get the more polite version; are you going to vote?
09 Dec 10 UTC Sorry, I gave up on the game since a new one is started.
09 Dec 10 UTC I suggest that if England won't vote to cancel after prompting us to cancel, we should all stomp him or her.
09 Dec 10 UTC Oh, no worries, i don think this game is worth playing anymore. Just don't get eliminated, ok?

And England, you are being ordered to cancel this game. There's no point in playing, since no one cares anymore.

PS. Russia, is there a reason you have voted draw but not cancel?
09 Dec 10 UTC Please, folks, let's get this game closed... Vote Draw/Cancel.
09 Dec 10 UTC I suggest that if England won't vote to cancel after prompting us to cancel, we should all stomp him or her.
09 Dec 10 UTC Austria, I'm fine with that.
09 Dec 10 UTC Germany may be able to do that without any help
10 Dec 10 UTC I'll load for lion and not bear.
10 Dec 10 UTC I would like to assist germany but that is the will of the Pope.
10 Dec 10 UTC Go France... You'll get no pressure from me - Pie, Lyon, West Med, N. Africa DMZ.
