07 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: News from England (Spring 1901): The Commonwealth of Australia has been formed. Also, many future Australian tourists to Turkey are turning 4 this year.
07 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Also in the news, Wright has designed the Ward Willits house in Chicago, and six of us allied quite politely in putting down the troublesome Boxer Rebellion.
07 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Meta-game question- my screen says the first orders are due Sat 02 PM. Does that mean Saturday at 2:00 my time? I assume people in different time zones see different things?
07 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Yes, looks like it's adjusted for local time - for me it's 5 AM Sunday. A great time to get in my last-minute Diplomacy after six drinks in Sanlitun... I'll try not to promise anyone Tunis.
07 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Do I need to keep refreshing the page to see if there are new messages or will that be automatic?
07 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: you have to refresh.
07 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: My tactics toward Germany will definitely rely on the assumption that he's looking sideways at the map entering last minute orders through a baijiu haze.
07 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: yes, it says sat 5pm for EST folks.
also a tip- if you look below the map, folks with grey checks have saved preliminary moves but not hit "Ready". if you save moves and the game hits its timelimit, it will play those moves for you.
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: I think we may need to pause the game to sort out what's going on with Italy. If the opening has an NMR it really screws up the game. If I'm correct we all just need to hit the "pause" button in the "votes" menu. I'd rather we pause and get this sorted out rather than go through Spring with an Italian NMR.
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: I think you're right - it's Dave's first game so he might just not expect the amount of correspondence we do, but if he doesn't move at all it does kind of unbalance things. Not that I'm complaining - it would secure Tyrolia for me and Alex. No problem though, I'll vote pause while we make sure.
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: I have voted for a pause, if that is the plan.
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: sounds good
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: (Alderian): I've paused the game. If Italy ends up not being able to play, I can force him into CD so that you can have someone else take over. Just let us know.
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Ah, thanks Alderian, that's great. We'll check in with him and let you know if we need to change for someone else or if we can unpause.
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Alright - I'm on and am making my decision. Sorry for the delay -- I had to read the rules for the first time in a quarter century or so.
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: I made my move and clicked "ready," but a box pops up saying "not ready" that I can click on. Has my move been officially registered?
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Everyone please vote to unpause. We are all ready to go!
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: If you see a box that says not ready, it means you are ready and clicking will change your status back to not ready.
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Thanks (re: ready/not ready).
09 Oct 10 UTC Spring, 1901: Thanks (re: ready/not ready).
