28 Nov 21 UTC | Congrats to Egypt for grinding it out. And a big screw you to Poland for bailing on the last couple turns. Forcing a draw on Egypt at 33 centers might have been possible. |
28 Nov 21 UTC | Well played Egypt. Didn’t think i had any chance in this game until very near the end. Almost made it … |
28 Nov 21 UTC | Gg all! Sorry for the drawn out final. |
28 Nov 21 UTC | England, he wins at 33 centers. I knew there was no way to stop him from taking at least 1, so I just didn't try. If you had allowed me to take Sweden earlier than you did I would have had enough units to hold the line, but you didn't allow me to. |
28 Nov 21 UTC | Yeah, my bad. It took me too long to see what you were doing there. To be fair, you hadn't voted draw yet, so I mistook it as a kamikaze sort of thing. Especially since you moved so many units towards me at once. |
29 Nov 21 UTC | Ah. Well, such is how gunboat games go. Real shame though, I was so close to forming a stalemate line several times, but Egypt's pressure and lack of communication forced me to retreat time and again. |
29 Nov 21 UTC | I have never won a modern gunboat before. Normally it would always be a stalemate but somehow I got a very good position in the corner, with control over the Mediterranean and shielded off from Britain. |
29 Nov 21 UTC | Yeah. Two things tipped the solo, IMO. One, it took me too long to finish Germany and pivot south. So I wasn't able to get around the corner of Gibraltar in time. Two, Ukraine continuing to push north, especially around 1999 and 2000 when he was already fighting you to his south. If he had just focused on you that would have been a grinding fight for both of you and, I think,Poland would have been happy to leave him alone and contest Scandinavia more against me. |
29 Nov 21 UTC | Maybe. More likely I would have just waited and then attacked his unprotected backside, allowing for an easy 3-way draw. |
