11 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1904: Well shit, I screwed up and now you have Munich.
Nice move. Well played.

This weekend has been great play. Just a heads up that work and life wise, Mondays and Tuesdays are the busiest for me. So good chance I won't be able to log in again until Wednesday at the earliest.
11 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1904: Ugh, that's an undeserved gain ... you obviously meant to support-hold from Kiel.

No worries at all if you need to take a few days. I'm sure that's why you set the game for a 10-day phase. Work and life get busy for me at times as well.

I've really enjoyed the game so far. You are a strong player!
11 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1904: Looking at the map more closely, if I get Munich here with no offsetting loss, my position is pretty strong. Even without St. Petersburg, Scandinavia, or Tunis, it seems I'd have a path to 18 centers: Italy, Austria, Balkans, Turkey, Munich, Berlin, and Russia up to the Warsaw-Moscow line.

We could try to restore the game with the correct move for Kiel.

From what I've read on the forum, the mods on this site don't like to go back and undo moves once they've processed. But we could just agree to draw this game, start a new one, and enter all the same moves up to this point. Your choice.
12 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1904: Nope. Card laid is a card played. No take backs.
Let's move forward with this one. I'd like to see it played out.
13 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1904: Sounds good.
16 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1907: Armenia?
16 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1907: Shortest route to Sevastapol while picking up 1 Turkish center ...
16 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1907: Hmmm, maybe that's unnecessary, now that you mention it ...
16 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1907: Actually, it is necessary ... sorry for the multiple mails. I will enter orders.
16 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1907: To add a little more color, if I wanted to have enough units to hold the fronts and also have a spare unit to pick up the remaining centers, I had to capture a Turkish center in Autumn 1906. Thus, the move to Ankara-->Armenia-->SEV.

A better Austrian strategy would have been to pick up the more distant centers gradually, throughout the game. Leaving SER, RUM, BUL, and all of Turkey untouched until Autumn 1905 is a mistake. You managed this better on the French side, gaining Portugal, Spain and the English centers one by one.
16 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1907: Maybe I did the math wrong, but it seemed to me at the beginning of 1907 that you were positioned to take the 3 SCs you needed to finish the game off, rather than reposition defensively.

Ankara to Smyrna
Rumania to Con (instead of Moscow)
Budapest to Sevastopol (instead of Warsaw)

You're still fine, and you've successfully stymied me enough in Den and Italy to get the win.

This has been a good one.
16 Apr 21 UTC But looks like I still have 2 years to try to crack your defenses
16 Apr 21 UTC I may just Concede, though, as I'm not sure there's anywhere I can actually make any progress.
Let me think on it.
17 Apr 21 UTC Hmmm... Maybe I could have done it the way you describe. I was concerned you might convoy to Norway, then move the army to StP 1 turn later, and you'd be in a position to hit Moscow from Livonia and StP. You would also be in a position to hit Prussia from Livonia and Baltic. I felt I needed Moscow + Sevastapol to hold Moscow, and also Prussia + Warsaw to hold Prussia. Losing Prussia would likely mean losing Berlin:

Prussia-->Silesia
Burgundy-->Munich
Kiel-->Berlin
Baltic supports Kiel-->Berlin

This has been a good one. Game years 1905 and 1906 especially, a lot of "what ifs" to consider!
17 Apr 21 UTC Doh! Now I see what you're getting at. Yes, of course. I got very tracked into the moves I was anticipating you might make, how I might have to defend, etc., etc. I didn't notice there were just 3 centers left, all within reach by the end of 1907.
18 Apr 21 UTC Yeah, if you don't mind I'm going to go ahead and Concede. You have everything well tied up and supported. No sense banging my head against a brick wall for 2 years.

This was a good one, and I've learned quite a bit. I'd be up for another game if you are. Maybe the Germany/Italy map?
18 Apr 21 UTC I don't mind. Apologies for not seeing the quicker path to wrap it up. Major tunnel vision on my part.

I also learned a lot from the game, and would be up for another. The G/I map sounds good.
18 Apr 21 UTC My schedule is slammed the next 10-12 days. But after I get on the other side of that, I'll create a new game and send you a DM with the passcode.
18 Apr 21 UTC Perfect.
