28 Jan 21 UTC | Good game. Apologies for dragging on with the draw, I was not sure where the stalemate lines are in modern diplomacy, and wanted to see how far I can push before I am stopped. In terms of EOG: I guess I could have performed a bit better in France, or by weakening Italy some before turning against England. But I think the end of the game was sealed by Egypt joining the draw coalition, and these factors would not have changed it. One thing I found very weird throughout the game was Ukraine's behavior - he/she literally gave her SCs to Italy while only fighting back against me. |
28 Jan 21 UTC | Good game all! I was destined to draw at best after I messed up Spring 1998 in Alexandria. Oh well. This was my first Modern game - would play a lot of situations differently (specifically the balkans / anatolia) if I had another go I definitely got lucky with Ukraine as a neighbor (as you did with Poland lol). I think Ukraine was hoping to make it into the draw coalition? |

28 Jan 21 UTC | Yes you are right about Poland and Russia :) We had this race to the east, that was quite interesting. |
28 Jan 21 UTC | I had a similar mistake having my second army in Britain disbanded - I must say England put up quite a defence that earned their ticket to the draw. Would you have attempted to whittle Britain if I withdrew my forces at the end? |
28 Jan 21 UTC | Ah Egypt I really wanted to play nice with you when Italy came barging in, was hoping we could hold him off together (usually how it goes in Modern), but you did well ousting me and I could not hold both of you off together. Good game all! |
28 Jan 21 UTC | Congratulations to the winners! |
28 Jan 21 UTC | @Germany I'm personally not super attached to the points, so probably not. For me, as long as there is pretty large consolidation I don't care too much if it's a 3 or 4 person draw. |
28 Jan 21 UTC | GG Turkey - you caused a lot of pain for me |
29 Jan 21 UTC | Thx guys, fun game. Sorry Turkey, tough for both E & T to thrive in this variant. |
29 Jan 21 UTC | Gg gg Special thanks to Italy Bigs Raspberry to Germany |
