GG! | |
Lost a home center in '03, for a bit after stuck at 3 centers with England in Holland, Helg, Den, and Baltic!!!! Really happy with my bounce back.
GG all. I’ve got lots to learn from this one.
GGs :) | |
Moderator: (Claesar): I was very impressed with Valis bouncing back every time.
Moderator: (Claesar): Bit disappointed more than only one remained here though.
Thanks for the game everyone, it was a fun one! Well done Germany on a great comeback, and sorry to Claesar that so many remain. France - what were you planning when you took Munich? Looking back now, my biggest regret/question is what would have happened if I hadn't attacked you then. It was a close decision; I thought the chaos of England's death throes and the confusion in Germany might be helpful in my long-shot solo attempt, but if you were going to pursue a serious war against Germany then letting that play out that would definitely have been a better route. |
|
GG guys. I sadly lost interest after the suicidal stab from Russia 1905
GG! Italy, I’m not totally sure what I was thinking, I don’t have a great feel for gunboat... Part of me was fine with England making the draw, but Germany seemed quite focused on eliminating England. It seemed Germany got stuck, so I was hoping to help expedite England’s fall by shifting at Germany (hoping England would join against Germany), then I expected my convoy to Wales to get me Lvp that fall (while also taking Munich), being fine with Germany taking Munich back along with England dying, but England blocked my convoy unexpectedly (well done England!)... That said, it also seemed if I just sat around and watched Germany kill England that I didn’t have much to stop Germany from gutting me like a fish, so part of me was just trying to shake things up enough to remain in the game as I did not see much of a path to my own solo attempt... So, Italy, if you had not attacked me, I would have played it by ear to see what I could figure out, but my mindset was that I was Germany’s ally and I just wanted England to die *and* have my size more closely match Germany so the German did not view me as his next target, goal being a three way draw with you, unless a solo path opened up (which I didn’t see, but if anyone else did please speak up!)... |

Ah, yes, sorry for the stab Turkey. But I was convinced that Austria would see it as a chance to form an A/R. Italy was in Trieste, after all. So I guess it's my turn to ask a question. @Austria, why support yourself into GAL in S05? I think it turned out very well for you, but did you consider allying with me at all? |
|
Italy. Your only chance to make a solo in our configuration was to cross the stalemate. (Or expecting a mistake from the other players.) Stabbing me when you did so made you lost this chance. We could both have crossed it. I was in Mun at 100 % and in parallel the doors of France was opening for you. Russia. I don't understand what you refer to in S05 with Gal. My mind is that if I had allied with you, I was just postponing a defeat. But I lost too many seasons trying to take War, which offered the whole of Turkey to Italy and we know what followed. GG :-) |

( And congrats Germany. Very nice come back ! )

CptMike - looking back on 1911, I agree and apologise. I should not have stabbed you; 2-3 French centres were a higher priority than all of yours. I cannot quite remember what I was thinking when I did. In my memory I'd given up on making much progress against France; but looking at the board at that point, this is a nonsense.
Moderator: (Claesar): Oof, the next iteration is SoS. I'm out.
teccles - no need to apologize for anything. That's my point of view. On the other way, with that decision, you got a (close to) 100 % warranty to stay among the last 3 ones. ;-)
Claesar - I chose SoS to increase the stress on the 'solo' target (There can only remain one.) but I can cancel and change that. What is you the issue with SoS ?
Certainly, I will not have made that decision to play for a draw if I thought a win was possible (and it is not like I had a dodgy position). So I must have seen things differently to how we both do now :-) I slightly prefer DSS - mostly because of the lack of incentives for small powers in SoS - but I'm in for either. |
|
Italy, to be clear, you are saying that you gave up on attacking France before autumn 1911 orders, after the spring 1911 resolution?
Yes - that's the point at which I moved away from any serious threat to MAR or SPA.
I do remember very much liking your autumn 1911 orders, even though I lost Tunis your shift immediately meant I had you stalemated with five units, and before your autumn 1911 orders it was unclear to me how to beat defend myself against you long term...
Moderator: (Claesar): I don't like SoS because there's little incentive to play on as a minor power. I've come to like Tribute scoring. |
|
what is this Tribute scoring? I also prefer DSS for the same reason, you can survive with one sc stopping a solo which can be quite gratifying.
