Spring, 1999: Greetings everyone, best of luck
Spring, 1999: Good luck all , just not as much as my luck
Spring, 1999: Fortune favours the brave
Autumn, 1999: I understand a SA power, but why Peru? It is the weakest country therein. Venezuela would more realistic and allow a dynamic for Panama. |
|
Autumn, 1999: It’s a bit strange it’s called Peru too when most of it is actually Colombia.
Autumn, 1999: Y'all callin' me weak?!
Autumn, 1999: Nah, Peru has the best defensive position on the board and usually the best fleets. Sort of like Turkey in Classic.
Autumn, 1999: Yes | |
Autumn, 1999: Venezuela of course is a tower of strength.

Spring, 2000: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.

Spring, 2000: GameMaster: Bismarck von Australien was banned: Bigotry, Racism, rule 4, 10 violations. Remember to finalize your orders if you don't want to wait, so the game isn't held up unnecessarily! |

Spring, 2000: New Quebec here
Spring, 2000: Greetings new Quebec
Spring, 2000: Hopefully the new Quebec is less racist than the old one.
Spring, 2000: I never talked to old Quebec. Was he really racist or something?
Spring, 2000: I've talked to them a few times and I don't think there is any clue that they're racist.
Spring, 2000: I cant say I picked up on anything like that either
Spring, 2000: Oh, I didn't either, but apparently that player was banned for racism and bigotry.
Spring, 2000: I encountered some of it in another game. It was clearly racist. And apart from that the rest of the communication from this player was on the weird end of the spectrum.
Spring, 2000: Here is a conversation from that game, for your amusement or offense. I was offended by the racial slur. I am making the assumption that this player was male. Apologies if you are offended by my assumption. But this kind of crap should get you banned, and I heartily approve of the decision. Him: Autumn, 1902: This is an ultimatum: Leave me Piedemont or I will crush you. Trieste is yours; without opposition or suspition. Greece too, if you ally with the Sick Man of Europe. Life or death, you choose. Me:Thu 3 Sep Autumn, 1902: Nice try. Italy is a real nuisance to conquer, especially when its current resident has fleets. While you are bogged down in your personal Vietnam, better start thinking about which coastal supply centers you will defend, and which unit you'll disband after the fall turn. Him: Thu 3 Sep Autumn, 1902: What about my backwater colony Indochina? Are you comparing me to those monkeys in the east? Austria has already agreed to storm you by sea. I shall give the crown of rome to my brother Joseph, if you do not cease fire. Me: Thu 3 Sep Autumn, 1902: That's some negotiating style you have. Him: Thu 3 Sep Autumn, 1902: This is not a negociacion, but a demmand. You are at my mercy. For the record, he was getting crushed. |
|
Spring, 2000: I promise I am only racist against the Anglophile Canadians. Vive le Québec libre!

Autumn, 2004: I am going to go off and do something involving tequila and contemplate the end of my term as el presidente de Mexico. Enjoy the rest of the game y'all.
Autumn, 2004: Good game Mexico
Autumn, 2004: I wouldn't go that far! I got rolled! But a little humility therapy is a good thing in Diplomacy.
Autumn, 2004: It took 3 fleets to best your stronghold in Hawaii, that's saying something :)
Autumn, 2004: Could have taken it with far less. We were on the back porch having margaritas. See you in a future game. |
|
Autumn, 2004: NOW you tell us. Not like my fleet had anything better to do though. You needn't plan your retirement just yet, I'm sure Peru will be gracious enough to set up a puppet government. |
|
Autumn, 2004: I have to tell you that I spend quite a lot of my time planning my retirement. I've been playing Diplomacy since 1979. In Peru they eat guinea pigs. I do not plan to retire there. |
|
Autumn, 2007: It's a bit funny how Quebec is virtually just Canada now.
Autumn, 2007: It's ever funnier how California isn't even California now.

I half thought you were going to make a run for it Browncow... with half the units in on the board stuck as fleets in the Caribbean, it might've worked!
Haha yes that could have been possible albeit very difficult. No, I meant what I said earlier in the game in that I was happy with a 3-way draw, the 4-way draw with Peru was an unexpected but nice change to the plan.
Glad to be a part of it, given the alternative ;) |
