07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: We can message here. Questions about rules. Strategy. Whatever.
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: Interface, etc. etc.
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: Nice handle
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: So we just finished spring moves. Every "year" there is spring move, if a unit is displaced there is then a spring retreat or disbandment. Then there is a fall move, and fall retreat/disbandment phase. Then unit reconciliation (builds/disbands) called winter, new units can only be built in the original home country centers. At end of winter you cannot have more units than dot centers (called supply centers) that you control.
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: I guess on this website they call the fall moves "autumn"
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: ok
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: question, do I need to end with the dot or can i blitzkreig through
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: So I just took serbia, would i need to end in serbia or can I get the supply center if I move on to bulgaria
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: You don't own Serbia. It only counts at conclusion of Autumn retreats.

That said, you may want to blitz through for strategic reasons. Your new units will spawn at the original centers. So other nearby centers are easier to get later.
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: But you will definitely want to hold in Venice.
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: So my moves are straightforward here:

I'm moving to London. I'm moving to Belgium. I'm moving to Munich.
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: Did you have an interface error?
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: I messed up I refreshed and my moves disappeared. Frustrating. But my old move was going to move on from venice. I think i get the basics
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: The interface on this website is not necessarily the best around (it is near the worst). But it has some plusses. Be wary of hitting "ready" without hitting "save". Also, the button under the map that looks like a fast forward with a green check mark (the one on the right) will show your saved moves. I usually click it to confirm them before hitting ready.
07 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1902: great. These will be teaching games for a while, so ask away. I'm coincidentally being taught theory by a different friend who is a lawyer
07 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1902: and yeah, the lack of alerts and refreshing without reloading the whole webpage is a big big minus.
07 Sep 20 UTC Spring, 1902: you can refresh the dialogue by putting in a message and it'll load all previous messages.
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: At a high level, this game becomes:
1) Valuation of position
2) Knowing the opponent's mind and outguessing them

If I could peek at my opponent's moves, I'd never lose. Even if I only had the power to peek for one move a game, it'd be a huge advantage. So a lot of what I've been studying is how to read an opponent, and how to manipulate their thoughts so it is easier to read and counter.

But to start, we'll be focusing on the basics of rules, moves, tactics, and strategy. I think you'll catch on quick if you enjoy it.
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: So what happened here. I thought you would, move to bohemia, and I blocked, but I thought that would dislodge you from munich. I should have let you have bohemia if I wanted munch i guess?
07 Sep 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: Ok, rule time:

What happened in Bohemia, Munich, Tyrolia?

First: I tried to move to Bohemia from Munich, and you also did from Vienna. This resolves to neither of us moving.

Then you tried to move to Munich from Tyrolia, but I was staying there. So you didn't move.

It was unlikely that Tyrolia would successfully move to Munich (I would have had to move Munich to Berlin or Silesia). Better would have been to have Tyrolia support move to Bohemia from Vienna. Then the resolution would have been that Vienna moved to Bohemia (it would have had 2 strength to move vs Munich's 1 strength)
