15 Oct 20 UTC Teccles!! That was a real pleasure being your “ally”.

Was I correct that your move to Spain instead of giving it to me was to set up a double fleet build if I hadn’t attacked?

I’ll give a longer AAR later, but I really enjoyed this game. I was so impressed with the play. Russia and France were brilliant.

Austria and Italy big threats.

Thanks all.
15 Oct 20 UTC Thanks everyone, good game!

It was a pleasure working with and against you as well!

I was certainly looking for an opening when I took Spain. With the way things played out elsewhere, I don't think I'd have taken it even if you didn't attack me. Austria was strong, and Italy didn't really go for you. But your move to peg me back was sensible.

I was more surprised by your attack at the end... what was that about?
15 Oct 20 UTC I took a gamble at the end. I saw that I was going to get squeezed. i was hoping England would try for the solo and guessed wrong when I disbanned behind Austria's lines. Good game though.
15 Oct 20 UTC Any one up for another with us 7?
15 Oct 20 UTC At the end, once I saw I had Tunis, I thought if I could grab Berlin I’d be set for a solo (or 2 way at worst). You defended nicely.

I think if Italy had insisted on Portugal for himself, I don’t think he’d have been as easily squeezed.
15 Oct 20 UTC Dagabs defended sooo well. I really enjoyed the turn you each tried to give me hostile support in different directions and it bounced.
15 Oct 20 UTC Specifically, if I’d grabbed Paris, building 2 armies and double convoy would have had a decent shot I think.
15 Oct 20 UTC Definitely up for another. I thought I did a good job defending against the Ita/Aus attacks at first but then took too big a gamble :( oh well
15 Oct 20 UTC And gg ofc
16 Oct 20 UTC Good game all! I'd love to play another as well. Same settings, maybe a slightly smaller bet (so France could join).

I don't think England had a chance for a solo after Germany moved out of Silesia and Bohemia and I moved in, we could have set up a line pretty easily I think, protecting Berlin and Munich as well as Moscow and Warsaw.

For what it's worth Italy I didn't want to eliminate you until it became clear England or Germany wasn't drawing. I voted draw in 1914 when I realized I couldn't get close to a solo. After a few more years of dithering it became clear England didn't want to let you in the draw, so I said screw it and just finished you off.
16 Oct 20 UTC Wow! That's not the read I had on Austria at all. I thought you had a clear shot at a solo if you'd managed to outguess Germany fr Moscow/Warsaw and Italy had surrendered the boot to push into Spain/Portugal. I was not stabbing Germany sooner because I thought Austria would be beating me to Tunis and be the one with a shot at the solo.
16 Oct 20 UTC Oh, believe me, I was going for it until 1914. Germany had me stalemated that year. Couldn't take Moscow or Warsaw at all. I was at nine at that point and could only see Vienna and the three Italian centers as gains at that point, Tunis maybe if I could hold it from you.
16 Oct 20 UTC Good game, everyone! I was hoping I could tempt an earlier German-English conflict by surrendering to Germany, but no luck. It didn't look like I was going to survive after that, but I was still very surprised Italy let England into Portugal. In the end, England ended up fighting both Germany and Italy, so I guess England was my friend after all :P
16 Oct 20 UTC I'd be happy to play another
16 Oct 20 UTC Sure, I'd be up for another (at whatever bet).
16 Oct 20 UTC Same. This was fun.
