13 Jul 20 UTC | Spring, 1: Hello world. Rome makes its presence known. |
13 Jul 20 UTC | Spring, 1: Χαίρετε. I used Google Translate to do that. Anyway, I'm just gonna say, Alexander wept when there was nothing left to conquer, so I expect to be doing the same in a few turns. |
15 Jul 20 UTC | Autumn, 2: So the map is glitched and allows a land movement from Tarraco/ Saguntum to Baleares. This is not supposed to be allowed and as such I move to disallow it from the game. |
17 Jul 20 UTC | Autumn, 2: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders. |

24 Jul 20 UTC | You know what, I don't have the emotional energy for this game anymore. It's not going to be fun from this point onward. I can't win, I have no ally who I can work with, and I have no preference over Greece vs Egypt of who will win. I spent all of last week overly emotionally invested in one game of diplomacy and it killed me. To the point that the main reason I made the mistakes I made last turn was *because* I was so focused on trying to get a draw in that game. And I don't want to sink the same emotional investment into another game where I'm not even in a position that is, well, enjoyable. From my best analysis, I think the game is decided by if Egypt takes over Crete. If so, then I *might've* been able to turn things around, though that's unlikely. The more likely scenario is that Greece finally get onto the Italian, leaving Egypt the ability to sweep through Persia and be more prepared to invade Greece than vice versa. Otherwise, Greece will be able to invade either Persia, Rome, or even Egypt (though probably Rome) because the Athenian and Spartan fleets can control the seas well enough to defend against any Egyptian offensive. Persia was doomed the moment they didn't take Miletus last turn. I don't know how they missed that, but they didn't take it so Greece expanded far more than they should've ever been able to. There's literally nothing that can be done now, especially since Egypt and Greece are working together. If you're reading this, consider this a reassignment from this game. I can't do this. I'm sorry to quit at such a pivotal moment in the game, but I've spent the past hour obsessively staring at the game map and that is way too unhealthy. It's 5:30 AM. I can't do this again. Waiting on a 12 hour clock against strangers was bad enough. If I wait for a 24 hour clock to watch friends beat me senseless, it will break me far too much. Once again, I apologize, but by the fact that I wrote out a long stupid letter like this should probably indicate that I really am not in the state of mind to treat this like the game it is. Online Diplomacy just eats up too much of my mind. |
