I did worry for a while that this would actually end up as an Italian solo - I was getting blocked in the Med and Scandinavia, and it looked like the Gdańsk- Croatia line was going to become impassable too. That would have let Italy hold me off while gradually grinding down England for the solo.

I’m not sure why you switched to just entering Hold orders, Haubrichs, but hope everything’s alright in real life.

Anyway, that’s the first solo for me in ages, even if it was one which could have been prevented, so I’ll take what I can get!

26 Jul 20 UTC What a joke- Haubrichs just holding station for the last few years????? Threw it away and thats not a real solo win rod- you know he just "downed tools" dont you....

Dont understand why Italy didnt just civil disorder if not interested in playing out the draw
26 Jul 20 UTC I know what you mean - still, I think another player picking up a civil disorder is relatively new in the history of Diplomacy. I’m facing an impending Russian solo in a PBEM game in large part because Germany went into CD and thus entering all hold from now on.

After getting Croatia legitimately, I’d like to think I could have ground down that Croatia-Gdańsk line eventually. Bear in mind that Hambrich was also trying to solo, so you may well have had to end up deciding between the two of us at some point.
