19 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 2005: never seen a solo on this map before

be interesting to see if Quebec can carry this through...
19 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 2005: I almost did it in this game, but ultimately I made way too many mistakes in deploying my troops

19 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 2005: Unless the oppo is full of clowns, it's really tough to go for it, even from a corner spot
19 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 2005: Hey I'm still down for a draw. But what was I supposed to do, leave my armies on neutral for 3-4 years?
21 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 2007: Well if Quebec is so worried about grinding things out, we could draw here. Everyone is in strong positions with large center counts.
21 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 2007: I'm happy to play out the game a bit more. We're no where near getting stalemate lines. And I think a 5 way draw is a bit much.
22 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 2007: says the strongest player :)
22 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 2007: happy to play more, but equally happy to draw too
22 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 2007: my vote is in, in case we want to draw....
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: What a shockingly unbalanced alliance the Canadians have. This year Quebec picks up a minimum of 2 builds to be at 18. BC won't get ANY to stay at 11...
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: Quebec for the solo (whilst claiming he is going for a draw)?
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: Oh 100%. It's the only play for him. Keep BC along as a patsy until you've grown big enough that you can just push west for free centers, as if that one army in Calgary could stop him.

He can keep promising BC that BC will pick up all the Mexican centers, but that'll take AGES compared to the gains Quebec will have.

The game has basically been won by Quebec already (refer to the earlier statements about needing patsies to win) because BC is gifting it to him.
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: No shade at Quebec though! This game is all about manipulating people into doing what you want, and you have succeeded!
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: agreed
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: good analysis
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: i know im going down, but im pissed at peru for continuing to fight after i pleaded with him several times that it will end up with a solo

also pissed with BC because i saw it coming and he refuses to see Quebec will solo following the actions he is taking
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: i would give you my SC, but we are not in a position to do that effectively
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: What are you talking about? There are easily enough centers on the right side of the board to solo without stabbing BC at all. I approached him from the beginning saying why not push while we wait for more players to get eliminated and he agreed. Just because I've pushed harder doesn't mean I manipulated him into being a patsy.

I'm sorry, but if you guys thought that we were just going to sit up north and do nothing while you take 4 years to take out Peru...well that one's probably on you. Draws should come when the board is mostly stable and there's unlikely any players can reach a decisive advantage or the existing alliances are unwilling to be broken. The game wasn't there yet.

But we're still far away from solo territory. I've got barely half what I need to make that happen and there's still a lot of ground I need to cover. Florida isn't rolling over that easy.

22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: "There's easily enough centers on the right side of the board to solo without stabbing BC"

I guess we understand the game differently, but if you solo, that IS a stab of BC. Even if you never take a Yellow center. BC would still lose the same as everyone else, so it's a betrayal of your relationship.
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: I understand that. I'm just saying I don't need to turn on anyone. And again, we're a long way away from me soloing, so everyone can just cool their jets. Already Florida has slowed me down quite a bit. It's far from a foregone conclusion that I'll solo.
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: Also, I've said from the beginning I'm happy to end with a draw, just not with 5 players where there is still game to play.
22 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2007: I'm just pointing out the 18-11 discrepancy in your alliance. That's all.
23 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2008: im looking forward to seeing a solo
23 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2008: closest ive seen this map solo ever
23 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2008: Don’t forget Peru.
23 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2008: peru is small and id hope you two swallow him up before one stabs the other...
28 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 2011: Gonna be VERY interesting to see what happens when Quebec gets the required 29 centers (4 more) for an even draw. It's just the Florida home centers and LA. Or Venez.

Will they be content to have their armies hold for a few years while BC finishes up Peru? I feel like they mentioned something about not wanting to hold already...
30 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 2013: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.

07 May 20 UTC Autumn, 2016: People abandoning games, especially when they are in a bad position, is really pathetic IMO.
08 May 20 UTC Autumn, 2016: Yeah, I get you guys are mad I decided to try to solo, but that's kinda just part of the game. Don't leave and hold up the game for everyone just because you're mad.
08 May 20 UTC Autumn, 2016: Nah, no one should be mad. If anything, I'm only mad because I told EVERYONE like 10 years ago that'd you'd be able to solo and no one saw it.

But that happens. No biggie. Just a low stakes game.
08 May 20 UTC Autumn, 2016: Well it's still not entirely clear that I can solo. I think I will, but we'll see.
08 May 20 UTC Autumn, 2016: I said it ages ago, but Quebec for the solo....
08 May 20 UTC Autumn, 2016: BC made the easy decision to turn on me early doors (i understand why), but didnt want to upset the apple cart- left it too easy for Quebec to pick up SC and drive for the solo

Quebec earned this as much as BC deserves it imo
12 May 20 UTC Autumn, 2018: Oh well. Solid try by Quebec. Looks like you can't gain any more ground. We should probably just draw it here, right? Good game everyone!
12 May 20 UTC Autumn, 2018: Lol, not quite
12 May 20 UTC Autumn, 2018: Nice try though
12 May 20 UTC Autumn, 2018: how many SC needed for a solo?
12 May 20 UTC Autumn, 2018: 34, just two more
13 May 20 UTC Spring, 2019: Well I guess Peru giving you a win is another way for things to end...
13 May 20 UTC Spring, 2019: I was going to get there anyway. Yucatan would have fallen eventually and I would have made all the Texan centers or taken Colorado. So he just sped up the process. But yeah, it is just a bit hollow
13 May 20 UTC Spring, 2019: You guys put up a hell of fight though
13 May 20 UTC Spring, 2019: Sorry I turned on BC but it would have been silly not to. Great game all around.
14 May 20 UTC Well deserved win Quebec. I waited too long.
14 May 20 UTC Oof, yeah after seeing who everyone is, BC should be experienced enough to have seen this coming from further away.

Either way, fantastically played Quebec. Good game, everyone!
14 May 20 UTC Thank you all, it was a great game. And you all put up a hell of a fight.
14 May 20 UTC NICE!

well done quebec
