26 Mar 20 UTC | Spring, 1: GAME START!! :) Interface first: you should notice the colors of our names will match board colors. that is your color..... duh Global chat is global... duh To chat with a specific player (very important to keep secrets), just click their country |
26 Mar 20 UTC | Spring, 1: double Exclaimation marks indicate that player has not submitted their orders yet. Each phase is set to 24hours. You must submit your orders within that time. When all players have submitted, the phase is closed and the results are published. Then the next 24hour phase starts. (Remember a 24hour period is different than recurring 'Daily') |
26 Mar 20 UTC | Spring, 1: under the map, you will see all your units available (which will grow) you can give each unit 1 order. You can SAVE the orders and come back to them this phase You can READY orders to commit them. You are then done for this phase. |
26 Mar 20 UTC | Spring, 1: Remember, nothing happens until the phase is complete.. then EVERYTHING happens at once. For rules and gameplay, the website has a very good page with everything. Single page, but a bit long. We can go over the basics in chat possibly tonight |
26 Mar 20 UTC | Spring, 1: Helllooooooo |
26 Mar 20 UTC | Spring, 1: So I think to convoy your ship needs to actually be at sea. Can anyone confirm? |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Spring, 1: My ship is moving around the land somehow. I don't ask questions, its a game option. |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: Yes convoy needs ships at sea. Basically enough ships to make a bridge. Then your land unit uses that |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: Ships can also travel along coastlines, which is land. |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: PHASES: I want to point out what happened when we all submitted our orders. Those orders were SPRING phase. Those were all executed at once. If there we battles, then the losers need to Retreat. This would be done in the SUMMER phase. Only those who need to retreat make moves in Summer.... |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: Since there were no Retreats, the game jumped right to AUTUMN, which is just like the Spring. Place orders and move armies, when complete it will move to WINTER... |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: WINTER phase is like Summer, with Retreats. However, the year ends with the BUILD phase. You make your number of units match the number of SUPPLY CENTERS that you own (the dots on the map) You capture just by being on the space with a SC at year-end. |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: If you have more SC, you build If you have lost SC, you destroy Remember you have NOT captured any SC at this point in the game (Autumn) you must hold it at the end of Winter |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: ALLIANCES: You cannot win by yourself. Period. I'll make my alliances and general planning fairly public so you all get the idea.... Roma and I are already in a position to fight over islands... |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: However, we think if we work together, we have a very good position to control the west, and move east together. We can plan to split the islands, and not attack each other. Note that plans are just PLANS, there is nothing forcing us to actually do what we say. The best skill in the game is to know exactly if/when to betray and perform different actions. |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: It should be noted though, that a game almost NEVER has a single winner. Often an alliance takes over and players share the win. So it can be very useful to co-operate right to the end |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: lots of text, sorry... one more point... All of the non-SC areas are worthless. The map will color itself as you move, but the coloring is completely meaningless. Only the SCs matter. You might want to fight over a strategic blank area, but it gives no points or benefits |
27 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: ALSO wanted to point out, if you view the fullsize map (button under map) You can see all the orders that were processed. You can see how Egypt bounced himself. Bouncing is a very important part of battle |
28 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders. |
29 Mar 20 UTC | Autumn, 1: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders. |
