19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: Soooo... im gonna have to read the rules... |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: the interface here is pretty straightforward but to send a message to a specific person, click the tab that has their nationality and type there. if you send in global, everyone can see it (like this message) |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: Greetings, programs. |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: Justin, quick logistics questions: 1) Each turn is 2 days, yes? Do moves execute once everyone has their orders in, or do we have to wait? Can the turn rate be speeded up or slowed down if need be? 2) Where do new units appear if/when we capture Supply Depots? |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: 1. We can't alter the turn speed once the game is launched but yes, everyone's orders will process as soon as they're saved and readied. The only reason I set the turn length as long as it is is let's say someone needs to be out for a day or something. It's a bummer to miss your turn so it's there for emergencies but we hope to rarely take that long. 2. You will build (and/or destroy) before each Spring turn. We start in Spring, then Fall, then builds/retreats, then repeat again starting at spring. Chat is disabled during build/retreat. You build from the Supply Centers (SCs) you controlled at the beginning of the game, so you can't produce more than 3 new units in a single build phase and you can only produce up to the number of home SCs you control. |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: When you capture a new SC, it increases your total unit capacity on the board by 1. If you lose one, it decreases by 1. So when you enter into build/destroy phases, you will be building or destroying until you're at your capacity, which again is the amount of SCs you control. |

19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: You will also notice that when you move into a territory on a Spring order, it will show up in fall as a little square in that territory in your color. This means that you WILL capture the territory IF YOU STAY there through fall. So don't go moving out of there if you intend to capture it. It's not yours until it's fully colored in your color. |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: and just to be clear, if I click a tab at the top for say rome, and type a message, only rome and I can see that message? |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: that is correct. you can try sending me a test message to try it out |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: I will review the rules this evening and place my first orders asap. |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: One other note, if your orders are SAVED and not READY, they're not considered locked in so they won't trigger the season's end, but they will also NOT process if the season ends and you haven't readied them. Does that make sense? |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: Thanks Justin — and thanks for setting this up! So to clarify for the noobs (not that there's anything wrong with that <nodes toward Rome>), but you can only place new units in your original 3 provinces, correct? |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: can everyone see the notes tab? In the anticipation of the answer being yes, I've posted the board game rules link in there. |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: Correct, only your 3 home SCs produce units. No other SC will produce units for you so guard them well! |
19 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: And no the notes is just for your own personal notes. No one else can see it. |
20 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: Sorry for the delay, but it's going to take me until tomorrow to get to this first turn. I should be more on top of things in the future. |
20 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: no worries - once you're locked in the turn will process. in the past, i've also used a facebook messenger group just to let everyone know when the turn is over. if people find that helpful, we can set that up. otherwise you can just log in periodically here |
20 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: As much as I loathe facebook, and believe they should be destroyed utterly and their earth salted (trigger alert, Carthage!) — messenger is indeed useful for communique |
20 Feb 19 UTC | Spring, 1: I'm also on board with using messenger |
