31 Aug 18 UTC | Ugh, what a crummy game for me. First Carthage and Rome open with missed moves in the first year, giving both Greece and Egypt extra freedom to come at me. Then Carthage continues to play apoorly so that Egypt presses me without mercy and with extra builds to help him. Then Egypt starts missing moves too, but I'm no longer in a position to take advantage. Finally, Greece, oblivious to the solo threat from Rome apparently, decides it is more important to press on me than to make peace with me so that he can send sufficient forces to deal with Rome. Egypt shows up again just enough to make me further impotent while ignoring Rome some more. Greece - if you had only let me be, I could have overrun Egypt's vacant position and helped you hold back Rome for 3-way draw. Disappointing game marred badly by missed turns. |
31 Aug 18 UTC | I’d just like to say sorry? But like, I’m not gonna turn down a win like this one. Especially sorry to greece |
31 Aug 18 UTC | Gz rome! |
31 Aug 18 UTC | Rome - you did it all right. I'm more frustrated with Carthage and Egypt missed moves to my detriment, and with Greece not doing what he needed to do to stop you. |
31 Aug 18 UTC | Greece did all they could. Egypt moved as if they were attacking Greece before the last turn, forcing Greece to pull forces back and ultimately doom the game |
31 Aug 18 UTC | Agreed that Egypt played very, very poorly, but Greece could have pulled his units back from Damascus and Antioch to defend his lines with you at least as early as Spring of 7 - would have required faith that I wouldn't attack him, but his other option was to lose to Rome, so seems like a choice that had to be made. He could have moved Damascus to Armenia in Spring of 7 and moved Antioch and Cilician both west. If he had done that, he could have defended Chersonesus with Armenia and possibly held onto his position in Illyria, and sent spare fleets south to deal with the faltering Egyptians and Rome's advance there. |
01 Sep 18 UTC | If he had done that, I would have moved at Egypt and we would have been happy partners against Rome. |
