14 May 18 UTC Spring, 1901: Moderator: (ghug): Welcome to the 2018 Gunboat Tournament!

You've been placed into seven games. If you're not in seven games, you haven't received each power exactly once, or you feel you've been put in the tournament in error, please contact me as soon as possible.

Games have been paused to ensure that nobody misses a phase due to the abnormal nature of the game starts. If you have not voted unpause by Wednesday, May 15th, I will contact you and begin docking from your seven days of allocated pause time in one day increments. If you need a pause, please let me know.

Good luck!
26 May 18 UTC Spring, 1901: Moderator: (ghug): As our phishing investigation has concluded, this game is being unpaused. I've reset the phase to give you time to get back up to speed, but feel free to ready up before then.

If you have any questions or concerns, address them to, and remember to be careful both here and elsewhere on the internet with your private info.

30 Jul 18 UTC Good game all, and nice win Genghiz

Cwest, stopping the solo was possible right up until you built that A-Ank. Had you built a fleet there, to move into the Black Sea while bouncing Sev and Rum in Ukr, you'd have had one more support than Ger to take Sev back in Autumn.
30 Jul 18 UTC Wp genghiz.
Russia, you're unfortunately right. Thou the move ofthe black sea fleet in spring 1909 also was a big mistake.
30 Jul 18 UTC No, wait, you're actually wrong. There would still be 3 vs 3 when he lost Sevastopol, so genghiz would still win.
30 Jul 18 UTC Right, it didn't matter at that point, 3 v 3. Moving my fleet out of the black sea a few years ago was the turning point.
30 Jul 18 UTC Gg
30 Jul 18 UTC As long as Ukr stayed open Sev could have been retaken. Rum-Sev S Black & Arm.
30 Jul 18 UTC As long as Ukr stayed open Sev could have been retaken. Rum-Sev S Black & Arm.
30 Jul 18 UTC Ukr wasn't open, so didn't matter. You need to have Galicia to make that move.
30 Jul 18 UTC Right, thats why i said had he built A-Ank, the play in Spring should have been Rum-Ukr, Sev-Ukr to prevent the solo. Once he built the army it was over.

Im just trying to be helpful by pointing it out, not rubbing cwests nose in it.
30 Jul 18 UTC Make that F-Ank in first sentence.
30 Jul 18 UTC Well played. Congrats.
30 Jul 18 UTC Good game everyone.
Just to chime in, trip is correct here. A fleet build and a bounce in Ukr by Rum in the spring leaves Rum-Sev with support from Bla and Arm, and Bul-Rum with support from Ser to protect Rum, while I only have Mos to support Sev, so Sev could have been retaken. Of course, I could have anticipated that and moved Ukr-Sev with support from Mos and Gal-Ukr with support from War to counter. A fleet build essentially makes it a coin flip, the army build does not.
30 Jul 18 UTC For my two cents, the defenses could've been set back in Autumn 1910 by rotating the armies around the Black Sea (Sev to Arm, Rum to Sev, Bul to Rum with Ser support), and I don't really see a potential answer to that from Germany - even before Turkey's extra build. Even after a bounce the units on Sev would still be 2v2 with Arm unable to be cut, and the units on Rum would also be 2v2.

But eh, I lodged my fleet on the wrong coast of Spain, so maybe I'm the wrong person to say that.
30 Jul 18 UTC Also, well played, Germany.
