21 Apr 18 UTC Well done dagabs. We couldn’t keep guessing the 50-50s forever. Actually I think we could have got the draw except for some moves three years ago or so when tantrum seemed still nervous about me and our coordination didn’t work. If he supported me into Sparta and didn’t bounce me in Aegean it would probably have been a draw. But that’s the beauty of gunboat. He seemed worried about my solo (it was in my mind a move or so earlier but not at that crucial point. A bit disappointing as this is the *only* time as Persia I wasn’t wiped out in the first few years!!
21 Apr 18 UTC I decided to throw the game to Carthage when it really looked like you were going for your own solo rather than the draw. Turns out I was wrong but it really did look like it.
21 Apr 18 UTC That was spring 9. If I was trying not to spook the man in the middle I'd have perhaps moved differently.
21 Apr 18 UTC Anyway well done to Carthage. Persia and I tried!
21 Apr 18 UTC Fair enough. I was 70% trying to get into samatia etc to support you against the Carthage solo that was coming and 30% thinking of an opportunity came up... I think if I hadn’t moved as I did then Carthage would have win anyway.
21 Apr 18 UTC Yep, you did pretty damn well as guessing my moves Graham. Kept the game going 2 years longer than it should have.
I certainly lucked out with you stuck in the middle there Tantrum. When you disbanded both units that I had dislodged (instead of retreating) a few years back, I realized that I could move in for the solo.
21 Apr 18 UTC Yes. What was that about? I assumed the disband was NMR. Or was it tactical?
21 Apr 18 UTC It was to send a strong signal I would not let Persia solo.

If Persia had moved to Sarmatia instead of Dacia in Spring 9, that would have been enough for me to think perhaps Persia was on-side and I wouldn't have disbanded the units. As it was, every one of Persia's moved seemed threatening.
