07 Dec 17 UTC Gg all, sorry I stuffed up in Autumn 1916
07 Dec 17 UTC France, do you read orders? I’ve been trying to signal that you need to get Spain army to Gas so you can retake Marseilles. Italy should never have Marseilles
07 Dec 17 UTC Germany, I only killed you because you started attacking Russia, when you should be preventing Italy from soloing
07 Dec 17 UTC And Germany I only killed you because after you took Warsaw, you did not write a support order for Ukraine. Had you supported Ukraine, we could have held out there, but you ordered "hold" instead of "support"

And no, of course France does not read the text orders, probably doesn't know they exist...
07 Dec 17 UTC and if you need to ask: "did you read the text orders? the answer must surely be no..

Most people don't. I only look at them if I see a unit do nothing, then I look to see what it tried to do.

It's my policy to write an order for every unit. If I have no real order to write and it would be "Hold" then I write something to communicate, hoping that others will read it, but often they don't.
07 Dec 17 UTC @Germany, the move in 1910 to take Warsaw was a bad move. Italy was growing towards solo, Russia had a solid front established against him, but I had to pull off my Italian front to remove you from Warsaw (the first time). Then when England forced you out of your home SC, you grabbed Warsaw again, which I understood was a survival move, but then you have to SUPPORT the battle front in the stalemate line. I gave you one turn in Warsaw to see if you would support Ukraine, but you didn't. Ukraine is a stalemate if supported by Moscow and Warsaw, then all England had to do would have been to fill Silesia, and we'd be set. But you ordered hold instead of support, so I had to remove you, even the turn I removed you, you didn't support Ukraine against the obvious power of 3 attack by Italy. So if you want to be part of a draw and a stalemate line, you have to do your part. Otherwise, you are a liability.
07 Dec 17 UTC Good game. Thanks all. There were times I wondered if I'd ever get the 18th centre, as I bounced between Mos and War.
07 Dec 17 UTC How does an army in Gascony help. Pie and GoL support marseilles forever and Tyr and NaF support west med. and it is a risky move. Nothing to gain and possible loss
Frankly I didn’t understand you delete going back and forward in Norwegian. Seemed to delay making the stalemate line in the east but I wasn’t focused on that area so maybe there was a reason
07 Dec 17 UTC Italy didnt have an army in Pie for many turns. If you had an army at Gas, then you could avoid Marsilles cutting bur support like what Italy actaully did in his winning turn - you would gain Marseilles.

It’s not a risky move because I have plenty of fleets suttinf around doing nothing - there was nothing Norwegian could do to “stalemate”
07 Dec 17 UTC Sitting around”
07 Dec 17 UTC Just don't bother, ding, poor play, and then cannot convince them afterwards, what's the point? Replacement Germany was the main problem, he played poorly and didn't care about his zero bet, and certainly not our points...
07 Dec 17 UTC I agree Tugster that replacement Ger was the main problem - I was glad that France did set up good defence against Italy. I attacked Ger after he first stabbed Warsaw, such a silly thing to do.
07 Dec 17 UTC I should have setup a direct convoy to Kiel via North and Hel, my bad there
07 Dec 17 UTC So Dave, just two games finished so far? New guy to the website, but obviously not to diplomacy. soloed one and got beat, barely in the other. Congrats on the win.
07 Dec 17 UTC Yeah, congrats Dave
07 Dec 17 UTC so, my gunboat ghost ranking is up to 24 now! Had a few solos recently...
07 Dec 17 UTC It’s a fair point England. My bad. To be fair if the map reflected the moves a little better then it would be easier because I simply don’t have time to go through the written orders. I should have. Also to be fair I didn’t feel terribly motivated with this game. Pure stalemate for me from the start with Germany having no fleet and no ambition but blocking me. A good alliance with Italy most of the way until it became obvious. And England all over me. I thought I prepared for and responded to the Italy stab well but confess I lost a little interest. Should have done better (for what it’s worth despite my low rating (I have about 700 points in play) I’ve been doing this here since 1990s!! (Well actually judges by email back then). Even more reason I should have done better
07 Dec 17 UTC No worries at all France - I got busy and failed to spend enough time thinking things through towards the end too. It was a good effort by us and well played by Italy!
07 Dec 17 UTC Congrats Tugster! King of gunboats!
07 Dec 17 UTC @Russia/England Thanks. Yes I've played Diplomacy before but not for a while because I didn't have the time for games in real life. One move a day gunboat is perfect. Good spot about Spa - Gas defeating Mar, it never occurred to me and I went into auto-pilot for that half of the board.
07 Dec 17 UTC So many times, I glanced at that part of the map, and thought, oh, a triple attack on Marseilles would work, then no, Gascony was a fleet...
