There was surprisingly little metagaming, for me at least, in this set of games. Mostly the games were independent. What's everyone else's experience?

I would have to agree. Different country placements for each player (and myself) made it either unnecessary or inefficient

Yep, I agree. I think a classic map would make metagaming more useful, especially for an Austrian player.
