12 Jan 17 UTC | Spring, 901: Welcome to the game. Here is a quick tour of this page and how to submit moves. You should read up on the types of moves on your own. At the top of the page you see the game name, and more crucially, how long until the next move is processed. Below that are a bunch of country names. First this is the global chat, everyone can see it. This is where you troll people for maximum effect. If you click the names of the individual countries you can private chat with them. There is no "push notification" equivalent so it is probably better to text/whatsapp. I'd recommend putting your number in global following the message so people can contact you. Not required. Then there is the map followed by a list of your units and the instructions you can give them. I'm not going through that because there are many beginner tutorials out there. Once you are satisfied with your moves you can click save or ready. Save saves your moves until the time limit runs out, then processes them. Ready is different that it processes the moves as soon as everyone clicks ready. It would be nice if you made use of the ready button when we start getting into phases where only a couple of people have moves (like retreats or builds after the first year). Below that are buttons to draw, pause, and cancel the game. Draw is probably the one we will actually use at some point. It is rare for somebody to "solo" the map so usually you get a few big powerhouses none of which can dominate the others. At that point if everyone who is still in the game votes draw the game is over and how many supply centers you have determines the "winner." Diplomacy is a game where you decide what constitutes winning for you though. Not everyone needs to be going for the solo victory from the beginning. You do you. Good luck! |
