Game won by CAPT Brad (40 D X)
17 Dec 16 UTC TURKEY
17 Dec 16 UTC well played Engl. Turkey game play sucks. Why didn't vote for a draw when England could still have been stopped?
17 Dec 16 UTC wow! first win as england. oh poor kaki, i might have worked a three way but you kept me out of belgium; and i have VIENNA and MUNICH!
17 Dec 16 UTC yeah turkey no vote to draw.
17 Dec 16 UTC Well played England.
17 Dec 16 UTC England - No way were you playing for a 3-way. I could not believe how much France supported you.
17 Dec 16 UTC gg wp ... turkey, next time, do yourself a favour and go for the draw, not the impossible solo. Will bring you points instead of losing points.

Capt, nice play from you. Why you had to go for the solo here? (I know, rhetorical questions ...) Was enjoyable to be working with you and the fight against you was really something that was fun, even in losing. Only one thing: I think you could've won sooner if you taken budapest, I think Austria has earned at least a survived.

Italy, I'm sorry I couldn't give you much back for your help against germany and the move you let me make to tyrolia. Thanks for playing with you.
17 Dec 16 UTC early on France, you and I toyed with each other, likely to our detriment long term. But mid game we got in sync. Same with Austria. Turkey, still has no clue.
17 Dec 16 UTC actually i really used those two points to make up my mind. turkey was bent on smashing austria and france began hindering my take down of germany. oh you german player you were my most difficult struggle in the end. but you played poorly in the beginning. why THREE fleets? they were bottled up and ineffective. i just slowly wrapped around russia and there i was in your back yard!
17 Dec 16 UTC France. What did I need to do to get you to work with me? I thought when I was still alive that you and I working together was the only real chance of stopping England.
17 Dec 16 UTC Yeah Germany, maybe something I have a bias with France, I am too friendly for my own good towards England it seems. Sorry I couldn't keep you alive at the end, maybe I should've stopped earlier fighting you and go against England.

Also, I too held Vienna for a very short time. That is also something I want to mention. Who had Vienna? Turkey, France, England and Austria. Maybe the most fought supply center on the map?
17 Dec 16 UTC England, you are right about the three fleets bottling me up. Didn't expect Russia to fall apart so quickly. I saw you as the main threat early on, but couldn't seem to find anyone else willing to take you on.
17 Dec 16 UTC And what you had to do so I work with you? Hmm. Not easy to know. A call from the future? Maybe I'm just too tunnelvisioned, I'm a bit out of training for gunboats. I'm sure in a press game we could've found a way to work together much earlier. But I miss these little things here and there. Need to play more.
17 Dec 16 UTC Words cannot describe how much I hate you, Turkey. Your move was so monumentally stupid that it cost us the draw. I sincerely hope I never have the displeasure of being placed in a game with you ever again. In fact, the best outcome would be for you to quit playing on this site entirely.

Good job to England. Italy and France, I am glad we were able to work together at the end, though we probably should have started a bit sooner. To be honest, if Turkey was replaced by a semi-competent player, I think this would have been a great game.
17 Dec 16 UTC France, I like the idea of an England/France partnership (it certainly seems to hamper them both if they get into conflict with each other too early) - but it never seems to work out in the long term. The key is to be on the 2-1 side in the Eng/Fra/Ger trio. And with Eng already so strong, we needed to take him on together or loose to him in the end.
17 Dec 16 UTC I kept watching to the end (obviously) and was amazed by Turkey. Not sure if he was actively helping England win, or just very new to the game. I give him the benefit of the doubt. The only way to learn is to play.
17 Dec 16 UTC Turkey profile says he has only played 3 games.
17 Dec 16 UTC Austria, yeah, it was also a pleasure fighting against and with you.

Germany, I thought, that if England turns on me, I could force a draw with Italy, Austria and Turkey on my side. Well, Turkey had other plans. And as an Austrian myself, I know the deep hatred (err, I mean rivalry) between France and Germany, that could've influenced my perspective there too. Hmm, haven't seen it in that 2-1 perspective. I think I'll need to analyze this game and think about it. Thanks for the input. Will try to get better for the future and notice such things earlier.
17 Dec 16 UTC actually as the game went on i saw that no one held the big picture. once i got my hands on moscow the wheels came off the draw bus. i am surprised that russia gave up so quickly. had he held warsaw and moscow in the mutual support line i may have not gotten so far so fast. but those bottled up fleets encouraged me to hold on to the north sea and support myself there while i started up the army convoy belt.
17 Dec 16 UTC Austria is just mad that they they weren't even around at the end. Draws are dumb on the basic principle that it allows multiple people to win, I would rather have England win than be apart of a 3 or 4 way draw. You all may feel differently but at the end of the day, I'm not going to take part in a draw. Austria, it was nice toying with you for a few consecutive moves when we were just holding, I got bored and decided to go on the offensive, which then led to your breakup, oops. And yes, I have only played the game a few times, I just figured out about in not too long ago from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. Interesting game idea, some people are just so unpredictable that it is hard but hey, that's the game. Good job England, and Italy, I like your playing style. France and Germany, we didn't butt heads at all throughout the game so I'm not 100% sure how you all play. Austria, well, sorry.
17 Dec 16 UTC good job to italy on preventing my convoy to tunis from liverpool. that held off the game end one more year. but i don't know why france and italy never coordinated their fleets against me in the MAO.
17 Dec 16 UTC England - I thought that convoy belt was awesome.
France, I am English and I know it colors my perspective on the alliance possibilities. I want Eng/Fran to work, but I can't seem to make it. And I have never had much success with Germany (even though I know it can be really strong).
17 Dec 16 UTC that turkish fleet in sevastapol also gave the green light to go on the offensive against that late austrian push. i had as many armies in the line as austria and saw there could be no quick response from turkey to moscow. i even had time to get another army into norway and could block moscow with warsaw until it was in place. i have to admit, i am getting better!
17 Dec 16 UTC good game everybody! i had a great challenge and had to do a lot of preplanning in my moves so i would have time to place all of the orders especially at the end!
17 Dec 16 UTC Yeah my fleet in Sevastopol was a good play at the beginning because it didn't require moving an army around to there (I just moved my fleet from the Black Sea as there was no tension in the Sea) but I should've moved an army around sooner than I did.
17 Dec 16 UTC CAPT Brad: you played very well and do seem to be improving. to be honest, I was surprised to learn you played England. You played better than I expected based on previous experiences of you/your games.
17 Dec 16 UTC breaca, that is very kind of you to say. i do study the games after i play to see how others do things and learn from them. this is the best employment of england that i know providing france holds back. i always had an eye on france and waited until he became too friendly with germany.
17 Dec 16 UTC Yeah, I know that feeling, Germany, both Germany and Austria are my weakest in gunboat, and in press it's not much better. I had a few games where England/France worked for both, though they only ended in 3 or 4 way draws. Still need to have a game where there is only a 2 way with E/F.

Concerning MAO and coordination: Well, it is a bit of a guessing game, which fleet should go up to MAO. Italy tried to move one, then his other fleet, so it's not easy if you aren't a mindreader. Though I may too have sent mixed signals. Much to learn I still have.

And a draw is still a win, though not a major one, Turkey. It's your style of play, so I kinda get your stance and you have every right to play like that, it's just that may cause trouble in the future. I may not like it, but it is valid, so yeah, it's ok for me. I would be bitter though if I was in Austrias situation.

Anyway, the game was fun, it was a gunboat without major nmr's and I had some good moves (I think), so for me it's an experience I don't want to miss. Good game, well played. Some things to learn from it and take it into the next games. And i hope you have a good day/morning/evening/night, what you are doing now. Wish you the best.
