30 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 1906: ROME, ITALY: After enduring German, Italian, German and Italian again occupation, the citizens of Budapest are being warned to prepare for a Turkish invasion. Besieged occupants of the city are running low on basically everything, with no end in sight to the raging war that has levelled much of Eastern Europe. The Turkish government, which has woken up in St Petersburg after a Saturday night that rivalled the events of The Hangover, called for calm and said that it was negotiating with the Russian forces. --Reuters
30 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 1906: Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live.
30 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 1906: Soviet Russia will not fall as long as vodka can be used as tank fuel
30 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 1906: Turkey mourns the English empire, an ally our empire has not and may never see again.
30 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 1907: EDINBURGH, ENGLAND: The last bastion of the once whole nation. Friendless, Desperate and borderline mad the Admiral of the last of her majesty's fleet stands ready. We will not go silently into that good night, but rage, rage against the dying of the light for while I still stand

The sun will never set on the British Empire
30 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 1907: BLACK SEA, TURKEY: As the last air of winter leaves the Russian-scoped Ocean to make way for spring, my fellow countrymen and I breathe more confidently. We have been stationed here endlessly since the beginning of this war, but we pray soon we will be able to return home... To return to our beloveds. Oh Saraj, how I wish to have been there for your fathers funeral. His death on the Bulgarian front shocked us all. The man who led the speeches yearly at our crewmens dinners, a seadog who turned to fighting on the sand-ridden land before his retirement.

My love to you binds me with mighty cables that nought but omnipotence could break, but my love of country seems to pull me forward, as a mighty wave crashing over me. I know now the future of our great nation rests on my shoulders, and I will not shrug that responsibility lightly.

Our children will grow up in a land that was defended, a land that was proud.

The indications are very strong that we are to move in a few days, perhaps tomorrow, and lest I should not be able to write you again, I felt compelled to note a few lines that may fall under your eye when I am no more.

I have no misgivings about, or lack of confidence in the cause in which I am engaged, and my courage does not halt or falter. And I am willing, perfectly willing, to lay down my life for the victory of our government, and pay the debt forward that your father has laid before me.

Saraj...my love for you is deathless. The memory of all the blissful moments I have shared with you come crowding over me, and I feel so deeply grateful to God...and you...that I've enjoyed them for so long. And how hard it is for me to give them up, to burn to ashes the hopes for future years, when God willing we might have lived and loved together, and seen our boys grow into honourable manhood around us.

If I do not return, my dear Saraj, never forget how much I loved you. Not that when my last breath escapes me on the battlefield, it will whisper your name.

Forgive my many faults, and many pains I have caused you. How thoughtless, how foolish I have sometimes been. But oh Saraj, if the dead can come back to this Earth, and flit unseen around those they love, I shall always be with you in the brightest day and the darkest night. Always.

And when the soft Armenian breeze fans your cheek, it shall be my breath. Or the cool air at your throbbing temple, it shall be my spirit passing by.

Saraj do not mourn me dead, think I am gone, and wait for me, for we shall meet again.

30 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 1907: BERLIN, GERMANY: as the Russian forces moves in through Kiel, Silesia and Prussia, one can only dream of the glorious future our leader promised upon us. A quote from a famous opera comes to mind; my homeland which I once knew, lost to me now. The quote rings true as the artillery of the oppressing Russian forces pounds the cities which he once ruled. The question rings true. "Why did we attack Russia?" The answer he gave was short and sharp. There was nothing we could do but support.

And now. With nothing left to do but watch as the red army moves in. This is my final obituary. Though I am not dead I fear the worst. The red army has been known to be harsh and cruel on occupied territories.

I leave to you my estate in east Prussia though I fear it may already be destroyed. The Berghof is yours should you be able to retrieve it.

I fear my position is surrounded, the artillery is louder than ever. I am here with my dear wife Eve whom I just married.
There is no more denying it. I must face facts.
I am Hitler
Goodbye

30 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 1907: SMYRNA, TURKEY: News of England spreads quickly, just as the echoes of Austria's collapse rang throughout our sandstone pillars all those years ago. We mourn for our brethren we never met. A cask of dry beefeater gin is opened and shared at the war table tonight. Cheers chaps, you gave them a right rummhold.
30 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 1907: Is it just me or does everyone feel like a loser when playing this game? Maybe Diplomacy is a brutal commentary on the concept of war and how no one can truly win
