World Diplomacy IX, Anonymous players, Draw-Size Scoring

Game drawn
30 Sep 16 UTC Autumn, 2010: [Russia]:No one on the map has attacked Kenya yet... draw, Kenya?
30 Sep 16 UTC Autumn, 2010: [Quebec]:At this point I think the best option is a 5-way, excluding Russia. I suspect that is what Kenya is waiting for as well.
30 Sep 16 UTC Autumn, 2010: [Russia]:For some reason... I find myself mildly opposed to that option. :-)
30 Sep 16 UTC Autumn, 2010: [Ghana]:The later this goes, the more likely someone tries for a stab and solo. Once Russia is gone, why not Libya or Quebec next? It never ends.
30 Sep 16 UTC Autumn, 2010: [Kenya]:Well, since I seem to be the chief concern here (for some reason), I'm not going to stab Libya because I don't trust the rest of the board enough to do something like that (also, Libya has been loyal beyond words), and I'm not going to stab Quebec because I'm in no position to do so.

Just to put this on the record and set any doubts to rest, I affirm that I will vote in favor of a five way draw once Russia is eliminated.
30 Sep 16 UTC Autumn, 2010: [Russia]:While we are on the subject of loyal allies, I nominate Moldy Russia... despite the fact that I gave him a mildly insulting nickname, he has defended me, supported me, and never gave me reason to doubt.
Regarding the Kenya Opposition to Peace (hereby known as KOP,) the reason he is the chief concern is that until Libya bailed a moment ago, he was the only one unwilling to draw. For what? Twenty points? I am NOT about to win the game, but I am fairly well entrenched now, especially with two builds. I don't believe he is only holding out for 20 points. After I am gone, the board position will change, and he'll figure somewhere else to go. Not rocket science.
I also note that at an early point I was welcomed to the Big Alliance... and only Kenya was innactive. He chose his African Alliance over the Big Alliance, which is fine, and admirable even... but it shows me that practicality rules. He'll stick with the New Big Alliance... until he doesn't.
07 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2012: [Kenya]:Sheesh... if you want to find out who your real friends are, NMR and you will find out.
07 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2012: [Pacific-Russia]:Or just don't NMR.
07 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2012: [Kenya]:That was the plan. Unfortunately, RL got in the way. I am reminded of why I never play games with phases shorter than 36 hours.
07 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2012: [Pacific-Russia]:Yea. One thing that sucks about diplomacy: "I have time right now" then weeks later when life changes it becomes almost impossible to keep up with the game.
07 Oct 16 UTC Spring, 2012: [Russia]:Aye... On the road myself. Perfect time to stab me
07 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2012: [Russia]:Aye... On the road myself. Perfect time to stab me
07 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2012: [Ghana]:Blaming the game on a hurricane. Classy.
07 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2012: [Ghana]:(at least I assume that's why people are on the road and missing orders)
08 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2012: [Europe]:They could also be traveling, you can't just assume that every player here lives in the USA.
08 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2012: [Ghana]:You can't just assume that the only people impacted by the hurricane are US.
08 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2012: [Russia]:Aye... On the road myself. Perfect time to stab me
08 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2012: [Kenya]:So since we're all on the same page about eliminating Russia and then settling for a 5-way draw, I hope Argentina can explain how stabbing me gets us closer to that objective. Especially since PR apparently took this support as an excuse to put off his attack-in-progress against the Russia we'd all agreed to eliminate, thus needlessly prolonging the game for another year (and maybe even two).
08 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2012: [Russia]:I am resisting the urge to point out Kenya's touchiness. I still suspect that my elimination will not lead to a draw. Be careful who you ally with.
08 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2012: [Kenya]:If PR retreats that army to Kazakhstan, takes Moscow in the Spring and Armenia in the fall while Libya takes Ukraine, the game will be over at the end of next year with a five way draw.
13 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2013: [Pacific-Russia]:alright if kenya is a man of his words then after russia disbands we should be drawing. no?
13 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2013: [Quebec]:I'll be putting mine up.
Basically this game is the reason I don't want to see this variant being replaced by Known World. It's been a great game that I've enjoyed immensely.
14 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2013: [Kenya]:That is correct. My draw vote will be in once Russia is out.
14 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2013: [Kenya]:Sorry, Russia. Nothing personal at all... My goal from the start (as some know) was to get the smallest draw possible, and 5 wound up being the magic number.
14 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2013: [Argentina]:Kenya has no need to apologize. PR and I might, though.
14 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2013: [Russia]:No need to apologize... I know the game.... I DO hate all of you with a friendly sort of hate... but I'll get over it. :-)
14 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2013: [Pacific-Russia]:I do apologize Russia I tried to keep you in it and back channel for you all game just tide wasn't in our favor.
14 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2013: [Argentina]:and that was partially my fault, so I'm more to blame than PR, so I'm sorry.
14 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2013: [Pacific-Russia]:Let's just hope Libya doesn't get all gun ho and try to make this a 4 way and then a 3 way and then a 2 way and then a solo unless of course you all think you'll be the one to solo or that it'll stop after we eliminate just.one.more. I know I'll be next but then who? I suspect Libya will be the next to fall then Argentina then it's a toss up between Quebec and Kenya. It'll depend who gets more centers from the coming wars.
14 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2013: [Argentina]:I think I would be before Libya. I kind of ruined any trust Kenya had in me, when I got bored, so decided to take some of his centers.
14 Oct 16 UTC Autumn, 2013: [Russia]:Seriously, this was a fine game... I stabbed Europe to get things rolling, so this was just karma. Moldy Russia, you were a great ally, you supported me as long as you could reasonably, and a little beyond. And Argentina, I hold nothing against you. IF I were angry/hurt/disappointed in anyone (which I am NOT) it would have been Antarctica... because I always like it when Antarctica does well. Just saying. Good game, all....
14 Oct 16 UTC [Pacific-Russia]:Alright where are the draw votes? Let's see em up. Or who wants to prove me right?
14 Oct 16 UTC [Frozen-Antarctica]:Since this variant is probably being removed, you guys should keep playing, start alliances from scratch, and go for a solo. That way even if they remove this variant, you'll still be able to play it.
(Also I want to see someone solo)
14 Oct 16 UTC [Frozen-Antarctica]:Also, variant is broken.
Argentina, Kenya, and India are overpowered. I don't think I've ever seen Kenya not the endgame.
14 Oct 16 UTC [Libya]:Are they really going to remove this variant?
14 Oct 16 UTC [Pacific-Russia]:I think they should be replacing it with another world variant a more balanced one. That and a new variant would be refreshing. Even if they are replacing it it wouldn't be until they codes a replacement. Which I assume is a ways off.
14 Oct 16 UTC [Pacific-Russia]:on to the next.
14 Oct 16 UTC [Kenya]:Thanks all for a good game.

It would be a shame to see this variant go. The bugs are easy to fix. As for the balance issues, they are real, but nothing a board full of skilled players wouldn't recognize and adapt to. I've seen every country do well on this map under the right conditions.
14 Oct 16 UTC [Russia]:I agree, Kenya (even though I utterly despise you for defeating me....) Other than Europe, that is... I don't think I have seen Europe succeed. They seem boxed in. But all of us knew where the 'likely' strengths were when we started, and played and diplmoated accordingly. I will hate to see this variant gone.
Good game everyone.
14 Oct 16 UTC [Libya]:good game everyone.
14 Oct 16 UTC [Ghana]:The biggest problem with this variant is clearly Niger/Nigeria
14 Oct 16 UTC [Pacific-Russia]:Who's organizing a second round?
14 Oct 16 UTC [Argentina]:Well I organized the first, but I'm a little busy right now. If you guys want to have a rematch I'll play, but someone else can do the invites this time.
15 Oct 16 UTC [Europe]:please invite me if you are doing a rematch
15 Oct 16 UTC [Quebec]:Tbh couldn't believe I survived past Autumn 2009.
15 Oct 16 UTC [Pacific-Russia]:I am not too busy to be a part of the rematch but too busy to organize it. Anyone else want to pick up the torch? In theory we could do another forum sign up.
16 Oct 16 UTC [Quebec]:I'll do it. I'll send a PM to everyone in this game, then if we have spots left over we can go to the forum. Same settings, but was thinking 36 hour phases. Does that work?
16 Oct 16 UTC [Libya]:Yeah
16 Oct 16 UTC [Pacific-Russia]:I'm down. 36 hours is needed in world the more you go forward.
16 Oct 16 UTC [Argentina]:Great thanks Quebec
