05 Aug 16 UTC | Spring, 1: I am Cypriot myself and the turks took our country so we want it back good luck to all |
05 Aug 16 UTC | Spring, 1: Yes, but the Greek Cypriots were not really all that innocent with their ethnic cleaning fascist coup prior to the invasion. |
05 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 1: since when were we fascist i understand that the Turkish have made their homes in Northern Cyprus but the Turkist were the ones who invaded first and we want the country back but to anyone who is Turkish and is living there they can stay but we don't want the Turkish forces here and occupying our old homes and stuff anyway the British can think all they want on saying that the EOKA group were terrorists but we wanted the southern part to be with Greece because the Turks got their way on getting the northern part to be with Turkey |
05 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 1: I didn't say YOU were fascist, but certainly EOKA, Sampson and the military govt of Greece were not only fascists, but complete idiots as well. They created such a bad situation for Turk Cypriots that even the British and the Americans didn't stand in the way of the Turkish invasion. And we both know that did not turn out well for Greek Cypriots. |
06 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 1: i know that a lot of my cousins and uncles were killed because of it |
06 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 1: It was an extremely difficult balancing act. Makarios tried to avoid war and the fascists deposed him as being too sympathetic to Turks and not aggressive enough for Enosis. This gave Turkey the reason and political cover to invade. The Greek Cypriots vastly overestimated their and the Greek mainland military ability and the Turks overran the north in days. They gambled wildly and thousands died, land and property were taken at gunpoint as a result. It was such as disaster both Sampson and the military junta on the mainland collapsed, never to return. The Turkish military is still there as a result of Turkish govt strategy, not Cypriot (Greek or Turkish) interest and many on both sides who lost family members, property and homes are understandably extremely unhappy. This makes a resolution and compromise very difficult. |
08 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 2: anyway i know but still THEY INVADED not settled not peacfully stayed but INVADED it is still our land you realise |
08 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 2: The Turks ended a civil war. There has been (brutally imposed) peace on Cyprus since 1974. |
08 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 2: Furthermore, Cyprus has always had a large Turkish Cypriot population and the history of Greeks and Turks (i.e. 1922) is rather violent. |
08 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 2: i know but it is not the Greeks fault you realise it is like some people go into your house and say you can live here but your religion, culture and race means nothing and you have to be Turkish My Grandmother's house was taken from the Turkish and many of people were killed I am not saying the Turks do not have a right to live here but they did do it the most violent way possible |
09 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 2: No doubt about that and I feel terrible about your family's losses. |
10 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 2: was your country taken over too |
10 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 2: Yes, by Europeans. |
10 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 2: and then by everyone else. |
11 Aug 16 UTC | Spring, 3: what is your country |
11 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 3: USA |
12 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 3: so are you the original inhabitants of the USA |
12 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 3: No, my family is mostly european. |
15 Aug 16 UTC | Spring, 5: oh ok |
16 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 5: Why did you never submit orders to fight in this game? |
