10 Nov 15 UTC GG. Kind of surprised both Egypt and I made it to the end. But thanks!
10 Nov 15 UTC Y'all did a good job of coordinating when it mattered. I was hoping to get the last CDs for a solo from both of you but I never had enough units over there until it was too late.
10 Nov 15 UTC NIcely done, folks. That was an epic draw, for sure I thought you had us, seth. Nice coordination Song. That withdrawal from Murmansk and St P really saved us. And yeah, I wanted to wring your neck Jeff for attacking Egypt for so long, but I'm glad it worked out. I basically couldn't spare the units to finish you off, so you did a great job of making yourself indispensible.
10 Nov 15 UTC It occurred to me that the stronger powers might have wanted to thin the draw, so I was trying to eliminate Egypt without getting us both killed. It was a delicate line, and I was preparing to try again. If Italy had left me alone with Egypt just a touch longer, I would have gotten him.
10 Nov 15 UTC I suppose, except that from where I stood, the two of you fighting meant making life too easy for Italy, so I'd definitely have continued pushing south. I'd rather have had an Egypt that was fighting Italy over a Turkey that seemed to want to help him. I ended up slipping into Ankara largely because I knew I needed to hold it to keep Italy out of Black Sea.
10 Nov 15 UTC Thanks for the game, everyone. A draw is a superb result for us. I had thought the odds were always against my survival, and that was the case all the way until the end after Turkey came after me again. So am very pleased with how it's turned out... tenacity does pay off! I really enjoyed the clinging-on struggle...
10 Nov 15 UTC Sylvania eh? Could be many things. Close family friends grew up in Sylvania, Ohio.
10 Nov 15 UTC I just set up a vDip account called Vylsania, which is clearly much better.
Sylvania was the name of the company Allan Calhamer was working for when he invented Diplomacy... so wikipedia told me when I was setting up my account many years ago...
10 Nov 15 UTC Just looking back at my early strategy, I was always going to target Turkey. I was unsuccessful in large part because Italy prospered and pushed me back. Is that a fair summary? Why do you think it didn't work out for you, Jeff?
10 Nov 15 UTC What a bunch of BS. I've never played a game so frustrating where so many players continued attacking each other while another player nearly wiped you out. If England had attacked northern Europe earlier he and Russia would have had a chance at winning, instead you continued attacking each other. I don't blame Russia since he was on the defensive. England's lack of trust there near the end was childish.

If I had not held off Italy while being flanked and outnumbered for four plus years England would have collapsed.

Turkey and Egypt, your plan hinged completely on other players coming to your rescue, which is absurd.

England and Russia's coordination may have saved you, but you screwed me over despite my being the only one fighting him since the beginning.

Italy deserved a win for the way you guys played.
10 Nov 15 UTC So Spain, you are suggesting I expand through Russia and let Egypt or Italy capture my SCs? I disbanded in Turkey to give Russia the Black Sea! If he and I would have battled, the game would have ended faster.
10 Nov 15 UTC I am suggesting that you should have allied with them both against Italy in 1999 when Russia left Geo. I'm willing to wager that the main reason Russia attacked you was because you were allowing Italy to flank Russia.
10 Nov 15 UTC It should have been obvious at that point that you could not beat Egypt. Italy then ignored you both for a time, because it worked to his advantage to allow you two to fight each other.
10 Nov 15 UTC Italy had the one or two available units to send at the stronger of the two of you so that neither of you had a chance to beat each other.
10 Nov 15 UTC Nvm, Russia even admitted that was his reasoning.

Vdiplomacy has more maps, but less committed players.
10 Nov 15 UTC Yes, it was frustrating to see people more or less ignore the booming Italy in the middle of the map. I am sorry we couldn't keep you in the draw, Spain, since god knows you deserved it.
10 Nov 15 UTC Thank you.
