09 Sep 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: Can do!
10 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: god dam i didnt buid a unit
11 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: Fail
11 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: Alright, finally the weekend..

I'll start a new game tonight or tomorrow as there seems to be interest. My understanding is that the most popular choice will be to turn off names (maybe then SOMEONE will trust me) and to keep the cycle at every 48 hours (although they are quite flexible in that regard).
11 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: Agreed! I was not joking about a year long continuous diplomacy battle.
11 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: Would people be ok with 24 or 36 hours
11 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: I would be good for 36 hours or more.
11 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: I'm good for whatever!
12 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: Lets see what everyone else has in mind.
12 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: im good with whatever
12 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: what happened to drakes fleets? how were they destroyed? wouldn't they have retreated to the norwegian sea before being destroyed?
12 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: It is the retreat phase now. Drake gets to decide where they retreat.
13 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: And I am very interested in seeing where he will decide to go..
13 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1905: Alright, with the other game done I am looking forward to starting another one. I'd like to hear from Drake and Bryan first and then we can look at making it a 36 hour game. If not, it will be 48 hour turns as usual.
13 Sep 15 UTC Autumn, 1905: I think I need the 48 hours, myself...
13 Sep 15 UTC Autumn, 1905: Alright! Setting up now!
13 Sep 15 UTC Autumn, 1905: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=167366

Everyone can find the game here!
18 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1906: Dammit.
19 Sep 15 UTC Spring, 1906: God damit I didn't put a move on my fleets
20 Sep 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: A bad turn for the Italy - England Alliance
20 Sep 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: seriously. I keep putting in the moves i know i want to make, then i sit on the ones i cant decide, then i forget to ever put any in, and stupid stuff happens
20 Sep 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: That is not a bad way of doing things. To keep myself from getting confused I usually put in moves in stages (checking to make sure I didnt mess up). For example, if I want to attack Belgium this turn, I'd ensure that I have my move and support orders done together, check that I didn't make a mistake, and then click save for those orders - locking them in.
21 Sep 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: God dammit I need to stop forgetting to put orders in
21 Sep 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: Knap forgot too so its okay haha!
21 Sep 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: i know right really lucky
04 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1908: How many more years must this war drag on before you all recognize Turkey's authority?
04 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1908: It's true. You have your own King's Landing down there. Ain't nobody got time for that!
04 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1908: finally Knap turned on basil
04 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1908: I recognize Turkey's hegemony for spiced meats. God I miss Maro...
06 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1908: god dammit i messed up. i was supposed to support venice with apulia,
06 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1908: man this is the first time I've had to destroy a unit, so upsetting
08 Oct 15 UTC Spring, 1909: Poor Albania.. Nobody wants it..
10 Oct 15 UTC Spring, 1909: I'll take it.
15 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1909: This game keeps dramatically changing every time I look at it.
20 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: How does the end game work? is it once someone reaches 18, the game ends and whoever is left gets as many points as was bet?
20 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: Once someone gets 18 points, the game ends and the bet points are divided between players based on thenumber of SCs they own.
20 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: Quick question, came to mind in the other game, where I'm pretty positive Knap was Germany (I could tell from how you spoke) when a country like austria (in the othe game) lost all his home centres, and basically moved to Italy, can he build anymore units? if he gets another centre, but doesn't have any of his home ones?
20 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: random, but it came to mind. I noticed I was a bit handicapped in the other game cause I didn't know you could only build on your home centres, and mine were blocked
20 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: I've been killed in both games. the good people in finland have granted me relative peace though. for that i am thankful.

my glory days of being a diplomacy titan are over it seems...

So, with that i will answer your question.

You can only build units on the 3 or 4 original supply depots you occupy at beginning of game. So, if you're entire army is in Austria but you started as Italy... then you will only survive as long as you hold Italy and/or reclaim Austria to build new units.

There are other larger European maps (modern Europe) that has more countries and civilizations and allows you to build units wherever you occupy a supply depot - just not this map we're playing.
21 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1910: Woah I had no idea that was a thing. I assumed you could always build units so long as you had any supply centres to support it.
23 Oct 15 UTC Spring, 1911: Nooooo my stalemate I forgot to upkeep it . Dam it if I had input my orders there was actually no way you could breach it
24 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1911: Finland smiles upon you all.
24 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1911: I actually forgot north africa was a thing
24 Oct 15 UTC Autumn, 1911: but here I am again forgetting to input moves
28 Oct 15 UTC Spring, 1912: I think basil is going to win this turn
30 Oct 15 UTC Good game everyone!
30 Oct 15 UTC Basile you dictator!
I am humbled!
31 Oct 15 UTC I nearly kept all my territory except Marseilles
31 Oct 15 UTC You are a titan, Italy. Fighting off those German terrorists for 7 years straight.
31 Oct 15 UTC It was quite frustrating..
