Thanks for the game everyone. This was my first try at this variant, and honestly, it is just not that interesting in its game play. With only five players, a three way draw is pretty anticlimactic so it should be open to allow for going for the solo. Instead, it's far too easy to choke movement off. Perhaps I could have gone for it. In theory I wasn't that far away, but with the north blocked up, I would have had to reach across the African coast to Numidia. I have no doubt that in the face of me trying that either Rome would have let up to allow Carthage to block me or Carthage would have thrown to Rome first. |

This game was very simple. Greece opened disastrously, opening aggressively east while also annoying Rome. This left him needing me to let him have Miletus. His move east left him out of position to defend against Rome so he fell, throwing his centers to me in the process, which was nice of him. |

I arranged a division of centers with Egypt from the start, and I focused early on claiming those, counting on those to raise units to head north. My original intent was to block Miletus, but given Greece's situation and Egypt deciding to take Crete instead of Cyprus, I went for three builds instead. |

Egypt tried to make it a 3 on 2 game against Carthage and Rome, but that left me nowhere to go very quickly. Plus, I had good communication with Carthage throughout so I always had the option to hit Egypt when the time was right. As long as Rome and Carthage were peaceful, I was reluctant to let Egypt fall, but once they started fighting, there was no longer any reason not to grab what I could. That brought us to the endgame discussed above. |

You would have been able to solo, you should have went for it. If you didn't get it then draw at that moment. I usually like to play until I am stopped. |
