19 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 2: Hey guys, I know this map is still super new to us, but would anyone be interested in a live (5 min turns) Ancient Med game sometime? Including myself, I have 2 definites and 1 interested, so we only need two, maybe three more Diplomats. |
19 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 2: I would but it would have to be on the weekend or something. |
20 Mar 14 UTC | Autumn, 2: Why does it looks like Egypt lost Petra just by moving out of it? Do you need to retain a land for a certain amount of time before it stays yours when you leave it or something? Was it a bug? |
20 Mar 14 UTC | Autumn, 2: You have to be holding it during Autumn to get it. He left prior to claiming it in Autumn. |
20 Mar 14 UTC | Autumn, 2: Do you hold it forever after that until someone takes it? Or do you need to be in it every Autumn? |
20 Mar 14 UTC | Autumn, 2: Nevermind, it has to be just one or else I would have lost a land too. |
20 Mar 14 UTC | Autumn, 2: Well damn. I've only ever played with other newbs, and I guess we played that wrong. Strange rule, but ok. |
20 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 3: I'm up for a live game sometime, but it'd have to be on a weekend. |
20 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 3: Are we talking in person, or online? I think it would be interesting to do it in person since I haven't tried that before. |
21 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 3: I don't have the Medit. map in person. I do have the Classic board but prefer using the online client. Cleaner, faster, easier to read, and instantly adjudicated. It'd be like a LAN party but less violent and far more interactive. |
21 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 3: I was talking online though, as in not in the same house/apt. |
21 Mar 14 UTC | Autumn, 3: I would be interested in doing a "live" game, but not until after April 5th. |
21 Mar 14 UTC | Autumn, 3: I'm game regardless, but would like to try an in person game if possible. |
22 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 4: How about we get together to play Game of Thrones? The rules were ported directly from diplomacy, so they are very similar games. |
22 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 4: Dude the rules were not directly ported. I remember playing that game at your place once and am surprised you say that now that you've played both games. |
22 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 4: The turns are taken simultaneously, units retreat instead of dying when defeated, unless they have no where to retreat to, there is no dice in the game, and combat is primarily determined by who is getting supported, support can be cut, convoys work by nearly the same rules, army size limit is determined by what territories you hold at certain times, ect. Of cource in Game of Thrones they have tweeked a few things, and added a lot, but they have quite obviously taken Diplomacy as their game's foundation. |
22 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 4: It also explains why I don't really love this game or Game of Thrones. |
22 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 4: You miss the die rolling? |
22 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 4: It also explains why I don't really love this game or Game of Thrones. |
22 Mar 14 UTC | Spring, 4: Let's go people, make your moves! |
