27 Feb 14 UTC BOO
27 Feb 14 UTC Finally!
Thank you jmo!!
27 Feb 14 UTC WTF? Stalemate was not established I broke into WME.
27 Feb 14 UTC You broke in due to the Turkish NMR you forced.
A stalemate had been in place up until the NMR
27 Feb 14 UTC One of those two players could have worked with me.
27 Feb 14 UTC They played for stalemate. That's not "acceptable". Play to win, dammit.
27 Feb 14 UTC Play for points, at least. Austria could have finished off TURKEY, with me, and ended up with more points. Are you watching the game ADMIN? Or are you one of the players?
27 Feb 14 UTC This is WTA, there's no reason to grab for centers if we press for a draw.
Any move by me against Turkey would likely have caused him to throw the game to you, leaving me with /no/ points. I played the game the only logical way(in my mind), and that was for the 3 way draw
27 Feb 14 UTC I did not even have a chance cause I had connectivity problems. :(
27 Feb 14 UTC (jmo1121109): This game is winner take all, had you won Austria would not have gotten any points, so it would have made no sense from him to do so. No, I am not one of the players, though I am ranked as one of the top 10 players on the site currently, so I am fairly experienced at recognizing non-winnable positions.
27 Feb 14 UTC Thank you for your reply. I am aware that the game was stalemated and recognize that situation. It is also true that I am new to this website, and though I know the rules of the game and most of your site's rules, I don't know the manners of "draw" and "cancel". I do think you folks should step back a bit. Why are you playing for "points" in a winner take all game? Why are you playing for stagnation and stalemate. Two of you worked together even without messages to purposely stalemate the game, because you felt the third player might "win" and you might not get points. The admin evidently believes this is the ethic of this website, and this game as well. Sounds like that is the generally accepted practice here, but also sounds second-rate. A play-to-win game is play to win. I lost a turn or two due to harsh five minute periods and connectivity problems, as well. I did not cry. You ask me, why did I prolong the game (when stalemate was induced). You ask yourselves, why did you induce stalemate in a winner take all game. That's not first rate Diplomacy play. But it might be WebDiplomacy play. As far as the manners of this site, I'm still learning. As far as the benefits and efficiencies of this site, I'm enthusiastic and appreciative. I was looking for a fast game, and seven entered. When people flaked out, do you really expect me to cancel and wait 1-2-3 more days for a useful, available, and immediate fast game? Suck it up is my thought. We have limited time, and we should play to win in a winner take all game. A "points" game might be slightly different, I grant you. That is my "ethics" injection into the manners of this site. Why did the "losers" prolong the game by trying to stalemate me. That is the question put back at all of you. Why did the admin reward the stalematers?
