11 Nov 13 UTC | Autumn, 5: As I try to hold off Rome, I just want to say that I don't care too much about this variant of Diplomacy. Rome and Carthage, especially if they hook up, have too much of an advantage. They can easily steer clear of each other and steamroll the rest of the board. Don't get me wrong. I fully intend to fight Rome to the death. But I will most likely not play this form of Diplomacy again. |
11 Nov 13 UTC | Autumn, 5: I see what you mean but isn't it quite the same with turkey and russia? |
11 Nov 13 UTC | Autumn, 5: Each country has one goal in order to survive: make one ally. I can ally with Egypt and push north, as can they. Or I can ally with Greece and together we can attack Rome while Carthage contains Egypt. |
12 Nov 13 UTC | Spring, 6: I wonder what the stats are for this game? I would think Carthage and Rome combined win more than 50% of the games. |
12 Nov 13 UTC | Spring, 6: i dont know what the stats are, but i have won with each country on the board before....i find carthage and persia the easiest to win with |
12 Nov 13 UTC | Spring, 6: I can see Persia as an easy one. Greece and Egypt are the hardest, I think. The problem that I always face is I build too many fleets or too many armies. Even now, one breakthrough with an army and I'll be stuck chasing (in this case) Egypt around. |
13 Nov 13 UTC | Spring, 6: wow....a three way tag team....i guess greece and i dont stand a chance |
