16 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1994: Good luck everyone |
17 Oct 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: Betraying our alliance Germany? No honour! |
17 Oct 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: No, we didn't agree on Austria. |
18 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1995: darn, i mucked that up... |
23 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1996: GameMaster: Fumblebee was banned: multi. The time until the next phase has been extended by one phase length to give an opportunity to replace the player. Remember to finalize your orders if you don't want to wait, so the game isn't held up unnecessarily! |
23 Oct 13 UTC | Autumn, 1996: omg---and I was allied with him! Last thing he send me was a rather cryptic message. |
23 Oct 13 UTC | Autumn, 1996: The new government of Poland has dealt with the corruption of the past and is now moving to new horizons ;) |
26 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: I'm very curious to see what happens once Italy is eliminated. Aside from Russia, it appears everyone else is either allied or in NAPs with everyone else. There will be some interesting backstabbing that will happen! The most interesting will be the central countries. With France, Germany, and Poland in an alliance, and each of them in NAPs with their respective neighbours, they will have nowhere left to expand after Italy is gone. Any countries working with Poland, Turkey, or Egypt, beware. Each one of these countries broke an alliance/NAP with Italy with a backstab. |
26 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: When did I backstab you? Maybe the last guy? |
26 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: omg, a backstab in diplomacy. Yes we are the only 3 players who have ever backstabbed anyone. I promise never to do it again! |
26 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: Sorry Italy, I wish I could say that because I missed my first builds turn I was vunerable and pressured into it... but that would be a lie (although did limit my options considerably) oh and by the way, assuming Spain is working with you aka an alliance of sorts he's also going to stab you |
26 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: Turkey, I wasn't saying I was surprised about the backstabs. There are people who backstab, and there are people who don't (which can even vary game to game). I was just giving everyone a heads up about what type you were, so they would know to not fully trust you. It's ok Egypt, I understand why you turned. You had two choices, attack Turkey or attack me, and I was the obviously weaker target. In your shoes, I probably would have done the same. I fully expect Spain to turn against me soon. I'm just taking his support for the time being, as I don't really have any other option. |
26 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: And I retract my statement about Poland. It was the previous ruler who betrayed me. Apologies Poland! |
26 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: There is always a third option... it may however involve death XD (childhood references ftw) Best of luck to you Italia |
26 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: its all part of the game, guys....know when to hold them, know when to fold them.....this isnt a nice game, its a game of backstabbers....get use to it....some do it early in the game, some do it later, but one way or another it always winds up happening |
26 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: Spot on Britain, I don't think telling the rest of us you were backstabbed helps them, since all of us will backstab at the appropriate time, and all of us will hold alliances all the way to a draw if that is the best available option. |
26 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: this game isnt for everyone.....you win some, you lose some....life goes on...sure, i have been upset at broken alliances, but i have stabbed and been stabbed....that is just this game |
27 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: I agree it's all part of the game, but I disagree that backstabs are inevitable. I personally try and avoid them and I would expect there are others like me, however few. Anyways, I didn't mean for my initial backstabbing comment to elicit such a big discussion, so I'm happy to leave it here. In the future, I won't bother pointing out backstabbers, because as you mentioned, most people will turn if the situation calls for it. |
27 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: i guess you're right nothing is inevitable. But it really isn't possible to win or even play an interesting game without going back on your word with some people. Nobody will be bothered with you unless you seem to be engaged with them, but you can't engage everyone since such an engagement will involve attacking someone else. Ultimately winning is usually a result of talking with everyone, choosing some allies and stabbing others, then rinse and repeat until you get an advantage. |
27 Oct 13 UTC | Spring, 1997: saying that I have played a couple of world dip games where that hasn't actually happened, also if you play global chat only it can't really be called stabbing when you tell everyone what's happening |
