10 Aug 13 UTC | Spring, 1994: I am always Italy in these Modern Diplomacy Games. I know I am Italian but come on, I want to play as someone else. |
10 Aug 13 UTC | Spring, 1994: I also wanted to say thanks to gnuvag for getting this game together. Please no one NMR or CD. I do not think I have played one game where there was not and NMR or CD. |
10 Aug 13 UTC | Spring, 1994: I wish we could switch. Being russia 2 of 3 times is not fun. And i do hope your wish is granted |
10 Aug 13 UTC | Spring, 1994: Why the hell does Britain have a fleet in Gibraltar. That just seems super awkward. |
11 Aug 13 UTC | Spring, 1994: It is, but it's politically accurate: Gibraltar is a British protectorate in the real world. |
11 Aug 13 UTC | Spring, 1994: Yep, but... weird for a game. |
11 Aug 13 UTC | Spring, 1994: Hello all, thanks for joining and good luck, hopefully this should be a good game. Check out game notes here: http://www.webdiplomacy.net/variants.php#Modern2 Includes a justification of why Britain has Gibraltar - but agreed, it is a bit awkward. Also note, for those that haven't played this map before, that when you get new builds you can build them on any available of your free supply centres, not just your home ones. |
12 Aug 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: Anyone else notice that the 3 players with the most points all got the countries with only 3 units? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm |
12 Aug 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: ??? What are you talking about? I have more points than you and Egypt |
12 Aug 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: It's a conspiracy! |
12 Aug 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: I was going to say the same dam thing..lol Italy |
13 Aug 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: This map seems extremely imbalanced to me. |
14 Aug 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: how so. I still like to know why France has a ship? Its kinda unless.lol Norway should NOT be split imo. |
14 Aug 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: instead of Gib for England Give Ireland to England and Make Iceland a build. in between Turkey and Egypt should be North Eastern med and South Eastern Med. Not jump right into each other's land. |
14 Aug 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: I always hated how France is pretty much guaranteed Switzerland and Mon. I think it would be better if Italy had fleet in Rome rather than Venice as well. Have a fleet in Mars for France and the Italian fleet in Rome would be even, plus France would not be guaranteed Switzerland and there may be a three way bounce between Germany, France, and Italy. |
14 Aug 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: True but Being France he is pinned between Spain Italy and Germany. All 3 can go vs him. England could but mostly vs Russia. |
14 Aug 13 UTC | Autumn, 1994: I was going to say the same thing - France can be very quickly hemmed in, without much room for expansion. I also think Poland gets a bit of a rough deal on this map - although it has a bit more space around it than France, it only starts with three supply centres. |
14 Aug 13 UTC | Spring, 1995: Yeah, I mean this is my first time in this map, but it all seems so wonky. Turkey for example easily gets access to many supplies whereas Egypt can, at best, can get 2 when it already starts with 3. I think the designer overestimates the value of being on one side of the map. Similarly, that Gibraltar situations is just weird because it will almost always force a wedge between England and Spain from the get-go. Anyway just my take. Not saying I won't have fun playing. |
14 Aug 13 UTC | Spring, 1995: actually you can get 3. |
14 Aug 13 UTC | Spring, 1995: You mean by taking from you? :-P I meant neutrals. |
