[China]:Congrats to those who survived. This game reminded me why I hate gunboat. When I used to play this variant in the past, I considered China to have the second worst starting position. (With USA last so definite respect there.) For China, they almost are forced into battle with Pacific Russia from the start. They can't really do much against an undistracted India, but as proved in this game, the reverse is not true. Trying to signal peace in this game seems to invite attack. It certainly did with India, and when I tried to call a truce with Pacific Russia, that didn't work either. At least I outlasted him. And I hoped in vain for Russia to lend assistance even though it was pretty obvious he would be next, which he was. Ugh! I think I need to stop playing gunboat. There's a lot of luck involved, at least starting out, especially on a map as unbalanced as this one. |
