Game drawn
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: Yeah, seems fair to draw without Germany here.
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: seriously, people, do you ever finish a game?why don't we all start saying let's draw after first few turns when we see that we screwed up? I don't agree to a draw
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: at least not yet, maybe 2-3 strongest but not now. gotta learn how to lose with dignity
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: You'd rather have the dishonour of later drawing or winning or surviving a game that you knew was unbalanced? Let's draw this and set up another game where everyone is there.
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: Are you really that desperate for points?
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: me neither
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: No surprise there, England. You stand to benefit enormously from Germany's departure from the game.
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: draw this and start a new game is good for me, I just hope I'll not pick up Austria on next game :-)) I was doing fine...
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: This is why I like the rating system over at vdip, you can set requirements so people who quit a lot can't join your games.
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: Haha I hope not...that would be unlucky. Yeah, I can see you're doing fine, but you still want a draw because you know the game (and thus, the result) is no longer 'fair'.
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: germany leaving didn't affect my game in any way at all, and in fact if anything, it actually worked against me. so your point doesn't really work you see, and if i do happen to win in the end - that's not because of someone leaving but because of the way i played the game. and if i get defeated - the reason is the same, but even in that case i wouldn't vote draw
03 Mar 13 UTC Autumn, 1903: Austria and Italy would loose anyway, so why should we all draw so you would get out of here as if nothing happened?
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: His leaving basically does 3 things - it strengthens England, Russia, and France. Russia can now leave Warsaw open to focus south - England takes Kiel, Holland will fall, so will Munich and Berlin. It affects everything.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: It doesn't affect you in any way? Ha! Well first, it's impossible to say, really. But I would suggest that it actually does affect your game -- and everyone's? What is a strong Germany had been at war with France right now? or if Germany had been preventing England from gaining SCs there, pushing him to attack France instead? Think France would really have the extra unit to spare in attacking me? I doubt it. So therefore I am in no position to inhibit your naval expansion which is helping your game. See, sometimes it's the little things..
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: german would have fallen anyway, i was taking denmark already, so the land would have been split between me, france and russia anyway.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: I don't want the draw because of the position I'm in -- I want the draw because it is the fair and right thing to do when a player in such a critical position drops out this early in the game. France stands to benefit enormously, yet has the maturity and tact to know that anything he achieves as a result of the unbalanced game will not have been achieved fairly.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: You can't assume that, though.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: I agree, with Germany cowardly leaving, the whole game is affected
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: well even if i would vote draw and turkey would, russia doesn't seem to be voting, so we will all be stuck here anyways
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: England -- he very well may not have fell and you know it. Regardless, the fact that you can get easy gains by taking undefended German SCs keeps you from putting pressure on France/Russia to gain SCs, creating ripple effects on everyone's strategies.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: Don't base what you do on Russia. The fact that not every other player has a draw vote up at the moment should have no impact on your choices and decisions. I simply ask you to do what YOU feel is right. And you never know, if you vote draw, it may put the needed pressure on others *cough* Turkey and Russia *cough* to do so also.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: voted
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: voted
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: Thank you, you're doing the right thing England.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: Now we wait for the Rus and the Turkey
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: It's up to the Russia and Turkey now.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: jeez you've written so much maybe you would have played better if you could play as well as write, i didn't even make it through last couple of messages. But fine, i'll vote draw just to stop all this crying.
By the way France i know you did well and i was not referring to you
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: What happens with Russia?
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: We'll just wait til he CDs and then draw.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: It appears Russia has left rather than face the dishonour of continuing in the game without posting a 'draw' vote. It's all on Turkey now. Now at least he can't claim he doesn't stand to benefit from someone leaving -- he definitely benefits if Russia leaves. Would you disagree???
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: damn, it's a kind of ebola epidemic spreading from Berlin to Moscow... thanks God it didn't come to Paris...
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: Turkey; thank you for doing the right thing. Let's set up another game where we all show up and diplomatize the shit out of each other.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: Hopefully it stays in Eastern Europe.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: what a pity, it started as a good game..
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: it sure did..
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: Yup.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: well im creating a new one, let's all join in there, i'll make it say 15 minutes from now?
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: So what are we going to do for the next five minutes? I think we should talk about what good t.v. shows are on right now.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: agreed! the one who quit pays a drink for everybody
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: good idea, send a link, turkey
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: the Internet show "Italy is talking too much" is on right now
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=111661
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: Don't know that one. Don't have Netflix anymore...sorry
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: new game i created
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: Seriously...10 minute phases again?
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: Yeah. 10 minute phases are bad. Makes the game drag.
03 Mar 13 UTC Spring, 1904: Well said. I didn't join, won't play another 10 minute phase game. Who likes to wait 20 minutes if someone decides to leave?
03 Mar 13 UTC allows for a normal communication, not the kind "-want an alliance?" - "sure, whatever"
03 Mar 13 UTC That's just like, your opinion, man.
03 Mar 13 UTC Doesn't outweigh the negative of having to wait a ridiculous amount of time in non-moves phases and when people leave, IMHO. So, I'm not joining a game unless it's 5-minute phases. Wish there was a way to have 10 minute phases for moves, but shorter phases for builds/retreats/etc.
