03 Mar 13 UTC | Autumn, 2003: [Frozen-Antarctica]:NEWS FLASH.... INTERNATIONAL NEWS....NEWS FLASH CANADIAN POLAR EXPEDITION LOST. Canadian authorities reluctantly admit nothing has been heard from their expedition in over 9 months. Jointly lead by the brother Captains Bob and Doug 'wrong way' Mackenzie the expedition was apparently tasked with finding and mapping the northwest passage. When queried Canadian sources where at a loss to explain why an Arctic expedition was last seen debarking at Antarctica and heading south. Famed climatologist Dr. Frankefurter, who last saw the expedition, claimed they where shockingly ill equipped for polar exploration. He commented "Any competent excursion is going to pack more than beer and a couple of toques". He went on to say "we couldn't even persuade them to part with their empties". Canada denies the expedition is in any danger stating they are well able to survive for years if left to their own devices. Not convinced Antarctic authorities are mounting a rescue mission, though they are not optimistic. "After being out of touch for so long we will be surprised if we can do more than recover the bodies and send them home for proper burial. In related stories Canada has no comment about rumors of other expeditions lost in Siberia and/or Greenland, though vehemently deny they have revived the Inuit tradition of setting useless people off on ice flows to wander where the current takes them. |
