23 Sep 24 UTC | GG! Man, well played Florida. I thought I'd crack you a few times but you always held and then pushed me back further aha |
23 Sep 24 UTC | Thanks, great game on your part. You really grew like wildfire for awhile there, and even when I was pivoting to try to parry, at best all I could really do is try to hang on and slow that inevitable tide. Which I absolutely couldn't have done if Cuba hadn't also seen the writing on the wall and threw its lot entirely in with me. Pleasure working with you, Cuba. Heartland, if you're still here...sorry, but you annoyed the hell out of me this game and are a primary reason that BC became not just a significant threat but a global one this game. I don't begrudge your initial attack on me, but almost everything you did from Spring 2004 onward was maddening and showed an inability to read the board. I did everything I could in gunboat to signal that I was not holding a grudge or gunning for you but solely one-for-one responding to attacks on my centers, including holding you in Michigan in 2004 when I could have helped support a successful Quebec attack instead, and at every turn you responded with aggression while allowing BC to snowball with no threats against it. We easily could have worked together if you had woken up at that time (me going North, you going West), and you still would have had options against me later because in that scenario, Cuba wouldn't have been stuck having to ally with me and I would have ended up in the middle of you. What's more, Heartland, even once you stopped attacking me, your turtling for numerous turns was completely unhelpful to pushing BC back. You did not see, or at least act against, the apparent threat of letting BC fleets into the Great Lakes and could not read the map and anticipate how your supports of certain moves could have helped yourself and others, your attempt to move your army up through West Pennsylvania where I was working instead of attacking Ontario via Lake Michigan and Michigan was mind-numbing, and instead turtling with self-supports as you awaited inevitable envelopment was useless fatalism. Taking you out in the end game was not inevitable--it was personal. Extremely frustrating experience dealing with you this game. |
23 Sep 24 UTC | Oh yeah being able to focus south and east and not worry about the middle was nice for the mid-game |
23 Sep 24 UTC | I enjoyed reading that tirade |
23 Sep 24 UTC | Lol same. Sorry for any blame you cast in my direction florida. I got myself into a bit of a bind early on and I don't think I was ever realistically going to survive, which was why I furiously bashed at heartland all the way through the game. Well done draw participants |
23 Sep 24 UTC | Nah, I think both Mexico and you were in tough spots with no good options by that point. |
23 Sep 24 UTC | GG all! Thanks Florida for the alliance, it was indeed a pleasure playing with you. |
23 Sep 24 UTC | Gg everyone |
