Cookie Monster Solutions
Instead of regulations, (YAWN), lets have unrestricted gun laws and limitless purchasing. The only rule is the retail employees *must* dress like cookie monster to make gun stores more kid friendly. Offer gun buyers a plate of CoOKiEs.

Mansplaining and manscaping
I heard people use the term mansplaining recently. It was negatively stigmatized but what does it even mean? Also I head people saying something about manscaping and I wondered if that was a type of yard work. Any input is appreciated.

Spring 1901 NMR
What provisions are there in general for dealing with players who NMR on the first turn? Should we simply agree on a draw and try and rebuild the game with new players? Is there a way to bring in replacements?

New York is the best.
Now that I've gotten everybody's attention, would anybody be interested in playing a game of American Empire where everybody plays as the region that they are from? I think that might be kinda fun and could be a way to release some of this clearly geographical tension that is brewing in the forums.
I'd have to claim NY

A whole lot of words and nothing interesting to say.

Control and secure military and police Arsenal’s?? Like the Obama administration selling guns to the Mexican cartels? But sure let’s punish the law abiding citizens for the governments fuck ups. That’s progressive forward thinking.

There are ways to reduce the unregistered guns? Wow thanks for that news flash Einstein.

What the fuck do you think the police are doing know when they come across these guns?

Hand them back to the gangs?

Gibberish.

The FBI stated in a study I quoted that there were less than 350 homicides in a recent year due to rifles or assault rifles but brainwashed morons like you state that restricting these weapons will solve the gun problem.

So I guess you think the gun problem is only 350 deaths a year? LOL!!!

Your problem is young read. You just want to keep repeating the same brainwashed diarrhea over and over with a cookie cutter solution.
@Kansas - MM isn't just talking about restricting rifles. He's talking about restricting ALL guns. Including handguns. So that FBI study isn't really a relevant counter-point to his proposal. And Obama selling weapons to the cartels (I'm just believing this on face value here) seems more like a strawman argument than a point relevant to the question at hand.

Large-scale buy-backs, a National Firearms registry and a banning of gun shows are good steps in the right direction. Want to buy a gun? Just go to a store, spend less time there than you would at the DMV to register it, and walk out. That's essentially what MM is saying.

Does waiting at the DMV suck? It sure does. Does the US have better drivers than third world countries with no comparable system? We sure do.

What you want to do to reduce gang violence is to tackle the black market for guns. You do that by driving that market into a tiny corner. Make it hard for those weapons to reach the market. A registry is the natural way of doing so. A licensing process where the seller makes sure that people have a safe and secure place to store their weapons can help cut down on the number of stolen weapons. The firearms registry is a genuinely good idea. Just a list of who owns what gun, and making sure people have a purpose for owning them.

Thanks Goldfinger. I note KB castigating moi for daring to compare Australia and the USA.. They're too different cries KB.
But I think that's just a feeble excuse to dodge recognition that some of the things we have done could make a positive difference in the USA.
But then KB is very fond of his automobiles and guns comparisons, but fails to acknowledge a similar " apples are not the same as oranges " issue there.
For instance, how do you compare usage ? I suspect that the citizens of the USA use motor vehicles a hell of a lot more than they use guns.
A lot of this "debate" with KB is circular and doesn't get us anywhere... His views on gun control are, imho, those of a rigid ideologue. He refuses to make any concession, appears to claim superior wisdom verging on infallibility.
Imagine trying to negotiate a settlement with him, he obtusely refuses to move from his ambit claims in any way, and has the impudence to dismiss all who disagree with him as lazy idiots.
And that behaviour from KB is not limited to the gun control discussion. In all things KB seems to believe he is infallible and anyone who disagrees is dismissed as a lazy idiot or worse.
I am actually trying to reduce the vitriolic nature of the various disputes between KB and myself. It doesn't look good in the forum. In my recent posts I have tried to stick to the issues and really limit my insults.
So I have rather had more than enough of these squabbles with KB.

I was not suggesting a generic one size fits all solution..that is yet another convenient misrepresentation. I suggest, study what works and what doesn't, implement sensible effective policies. Stop listening to biased vested interests of the gun manufacturers in particular.. They have mostly influenced policy in the USA for decades..look at the results... Clearly..FAILED in terms of public safety, but SUCCESSFUL in increasing their sales & profits.

So Illinois has a ban on assault rifles and large capacity magazines plus a waiting period for gun purchases like you suggested along with 10 or 11 other states.

Chicago has the most gun homicides of any city in the country.

A large scale gun buyback?? Where you going to come up with that money? Sounds like another spend spend spend the country into a deeper deficit plan.

Oh ok. We will just tackle the black market gun supply. Why didn’t you say it was so easy? Just wave your magic wand and the black market gun supply disappears.

And where are we getting this money? Spend spend spend into a deeper deficit.

So MM makes a point about securing military style weapons and me pointing out that the Obama led ATF sold Military style weapons to Mexican cartels is a straw man?? LOL!!! Sorry. Every fact that counters your agenda is not a straw man. Sorry.

A National government sponsored registry of citizens?? What a terrible idea.

The government keeping lists and surveillance on its private citizens.

I’m pretty sure that’s the kind of government our founding fathers envisioned.

Big Brother is watching you.

MM you haven’t stuck to the topic at all. Just whining and crying about me and nothing at all about the issue.

Talking Loud and Sayin Nothin.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)

And MM if you thinking being rigid in my thinking is going with the studies of the CDC and FBI over you makes me rigid, then I’m happy to be rigid.

Or that putting more restrictions that gangs and criminals who are committing an overwhelming percentage of the gun homicides will be ignored because that is what criminals do, break laws, makes me rigid, then I’m happy to be rigid.

Why the fuck would anyone think that people who ignore laws will completely change their core values because of some additional laws is beyond me.

Sorry that I understand that no matter how many laws and regulations we have there will always be people who break them. Always have, always will.

Trump blunders around Asia offending allies. Meanwhile Jeff Sessions "cannot remember" what went on at important meetings when "giving evidence". Further evidence of the inadequacy of gun controls in the USA with her another tragic shooting at a School.
