I know, and they were all wrong to do so. I'm sure some of the congressmen didn't care too much, but I read about others who were not too pleased with it.

It depends on what "emoluments" means. If that is defined as gifts/presents, no there is no violation. If it is defined as profits (even when there is a product/service rendered), it would warrant a discussion on whether it makes a difference if the person is not receiving the money directly but through a corporation.

The constitution gives that power to the House of Representatives. There is no pretending to be a court going on. It's just the way the constitution was written.

What i mean by 'pretends to bea court' is that they judge the president, despite not being judges, and can apply some form of pubishment.

In many ways impeachment is a part of government specially done by the legislative branch when for anyone other than the president it would be done through the judicial branch.

But that is beside the point. Given that it IS the house, who controls the House at present? What are the chanves they will impeach??
