How does muting work?
I've never muted someone in a game before. Therefore, I am quite ignorant about how it works. Clearly if player A is muted by player B, B won't receive any messages from A while they're muted. What happens when B unmutes A? Do all the messages A sent to B while B had A muted suddenly appear, or are they lost forever?

New game Classic
Just went to a FTF tourney. Was fun. Want to play some more classic using the standard tourney rules (except of course 1 Day turns instead of 12 minutes).

Set it at 101d to filter for more reliable players. If that's too steep but you like the rest, chime in here, and I will make a new one with lower bet.

Okay I'm confused, I have a few questions on this.

Why not just call the seasons Q1-!4 since not everywhere in the world is experiencing the same season at the same time?

Can someone win more then 1 award?

How many honorable mentions will there be?

Is there any rule preventing me and 6 other players from making 100 classic games and drawing them all in 1905 to ensure we tie as winners for a free 300 points?

Are all game types aside from 1 vs 1 included in this, specifically, shouldn't unranked games be excluded?

Why is there a category rewarding people for drawing, are you concerned that might encourage people to draw games instead of going for the win if they are in close competition for this point award?

"Point awards are flexible and can change at any time by the TD with conference and confirmation by the mod team"

I thought TD's are for tournaments only, and if so, I thought tournaments were required to have set point amounts approved by the admins and owner(s). Is this excepted from that site tournament rule set? Or is this not a tournament?

Per the site tournament rules, a TD can post messages in all tournament games to give scoring updates. Would that be the case for every game for everyone who joins this tournament?

For the 1 vs 1, what happens if there's 50 people who only play 5 games and win them all. Will the mods be handing out 15,000 free points?

Yes also seems like a weird answer for:

"Why is there a category rewarding people for drawing, are you concerned that might encourage people to draw games instead of going for the win if they are in close competition for this point award?"
Yoyoyozo (95 D)
28 Jan 17 UTC
"Why not just call the seasons Q1-!4 since not everywhere in the world is experiencing the same season at the same time?"

Done. It's really not that big of a deal. Call it what you want.

"Can someone win more then 1 award?"
Yes

"How many honorable mentions will there be?"
Currently only the most active player will have an honorable mention. Subject to change.

Is there any rule preventing me and 6 other players from making 100 classic games and drawing them all in 1905 to ensure we tie as winners for a free 300 points?
Yes.

Are all game types aside from 1 vs 1 included in this, specifically, shouldn't unranked games be excluded?
Not particularly. Someone might want to play an unranked game for specific reasons.

"Why is there a category rewarding people for drawing, are you concerned that might encourage people to draw games instead of going for the win if they are in close competition for this point award?"

Yes? I mean if they care about it enough. If they draw instead of going for the solo, it only hurts themselves. Not sure what your point is here.

"Point awards are flexible and can change at any time by the TD with conference and confirmation by the mod team"

"I thought TD's are for tournaments only, and if so, I thought tournaments were required to have set point amounts approved by the admins and owner(s). Is this excepted from that site tournament rule set? Or is this not a tournament?"

Lol. Why is this a question? This was approved by the mod team and owner if that's what you're asking. And yes, the points can change, if I feel they need to be lowered or raised.

"Per the site tournament rules, a TD can post messages in all tournament games to give scoring updates. Would that be the case for every game for everyone who joins this tournament?"

No.

"For the 1 vs 1, what happens if there's 50 people who only play 5 games and win them all. Will the mods be handing out 15,000 free points?"

Yes.

@Demon

We'd pick people, but that requires us to make unnecessary work for the developers, which is not what I want to do. Badges too. Points are the easiest thing to do, and signing up is the easiest way to organize it.
CptMike (4384 D)
28 Jan 17 UTC
I don't think that the player who make the maximum of draw can be considered as the most loyal. They are many bad and good reasons to finish by a draw and loyalty is far from being the only one.

My biggest concern with this giveaway system is that in 2016 we had 792 members use the forum. We also had 41,299 members finish games in 2016. Only 1.9% of our playing members ever used the forum. So this giveaway is missing 98.1% of all playing members.

It just seems like the best player in each category should win without the requirement of being an active forum user.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
28 Jan 17 UTC
Hmmm, that 42,000 number seems off looking at it now. Take that number with a grain of salt till I can recalculate that number. Though the point is still the same where the majority of users are excluded from a game rewards program.
Yeah, given that our total number of players is 84 000, and that only 1700 of them are currently playing games, 42 000 is much too high.
Wusti (889 D)
28 Jan 17 UTC
(+3)
Any reward for drawing is anathema - people should play to win, end of story.
While I agree with you to a point, Wusti, some players do play to draw. I think it's fine to recognize different styles of play rather than attempting to force others into our ideology.
MajorMitchell (1605 D)
31 Jan 17 UTC
You mean there are players who might play in unusual ways, imagine that. I do not want to be considered for the "loyalty" award for my controversial actions in a certain game, but I defy anyone to point to an example of greater loyalty to an alliance.

Guys I think we should appreciate that the mod team is doing so much to make our site engagaing and improve the amount of games played and the quality. Points are worthless, always have been, so to make issue with them handing out free currency is mute; id even say petty. In regards to the non-forum active players the mods do have access to banner messages which I think should be used for this event.

Is it allowed to forfeit your award points? I personally like the awards, but not the points, so I would prefer for them not to be added to my account.
A mute point unless I finish 5 games within a quarter, let alone win an award..
Claesar (4665 D)
31 Jan 17 UTC
Also, for #3 I'd say the formula should be different because it doesn't work for undefeated players. But the actual formula probably is different :)
Like 1-(survive+loss)/(win+draw) should work.

Also, are you sure #3 shouldn't also factor in the number of games played? If someone goes undefeated in 5 games, that's less impressive than 100 games.
Claesar (4665 D)
31 Jan 17 UTC
Lastly, I would give an argument in favour of not considering Unranked games for #3-5: Someone with a high win/draw percentage and 5+ games finished might be incentivised to stop playing for ~2 months, unless they can still play Unranked without comprimising their win percentage.
Not saying it will happen, but it's a consideration.
grumbledook (569 D(S))
31 Jan 17 UTC
I'll whore for points. I also think the points should be eliminated from the site completely, so there! I'll also take any points that Claesar wins since he doesn't want them. Actually, can I just get free points without doing anything?
