Facts based discussion on the Pyramids
Nobody denies that the pyramids exist. Now, however, it has emerged that one of the Republican party's leading candidates to run for president believes that the pyramids were built for storing grain. I know Diplomacy players are among the smartest people in the world. So I ask you – do the math. Show how the pyramids were not tombs, but granaries.

What is Your One Superpower?
Simple question, if you could have one superpower what would it be (cliche I know), and please get creative. One restriction though, your power can not give you other powers, that's cheating. With that being said, let's begin.

So, what's your name all about?
I confess I'm kind of curious how you all chose your names.

I saw this word in a list of interesting vocabulary. It resonated with my all-too-common experience of being unable to give shape to my thoughts and express them.

Also, 'lethal logic'.

Also, various jokes involving tips of fingers and tongues.

Had the Grateful Dead's "Dozin' at the Knick" album playing, happened to be on the song "Row Jimmy" which is one of my favorites. And I added my birthday for no apparent reason.

Well, I'm a little skeptical about the deep concern about the French inventor ripped off by his patent agent. I had always felt that the tin can was a nod to your fond memories of the Depression. Either that or a way to wind up your opponents. "Man, I'm so bad, i lost to a tin can!" Although upon reflection maybe you should have gone with A_Sack_of_Hammers

I grew up in Fargo and in my town we had a unique example of slang where we said "white line!" instead of "fuck you!". This actually stemmed from a graffiti incident at my high school where several profanities were spray painted on our school building. The custodians, rather than scrubbing it off, painted it over with a stripe of white paint and it became an inside joke at our school.

In my senior year, we played a school from North Dakota in sectionals because there were only about a dozen schools in our class in South Dakota, so the two states combine sections for high school football playoffs. For the game, we made big signs that said "To North Dakota: White Line!" so that we could get away with using profanity at a school event. Hilarious to high schoolers, pretty lame to anyone else.

Anyway, my username is in tribute to a high school inside joke: 2 North Dakota - White Line!

I'm really sad you stated your name; I can't locate it, but wasn't he also Ogion of the Snows??? I love LeGuin's writing and to call Tombs of Atuan juvenie (a masterpiece of the use of imagery) is in my view flawed. The themes are adult themes. But that's true of lot of so-called children's writing.
damian (675 D)
05 Nov 15 UTC
I was quite young when I joined the website, and I wanted a name that seemed like a plausible name without actually being my own. Damian was also the name of my play by post Rpg character at the time, which contributed to the decision
Ogion (3817 D)
05 Nov 15 UTC
Well, how else could I stay on top of twelve games simultaneously?

But yes, calling the wizard of earthsea juvenile misses the point. Seeing as the first book is an allegory about the hubris of youth and the importance of coming to terms with the inevitability of death, the second is about the move to go against the oppressive power of social convention, and the third a contemplation of the inevitable loss of powers and fragility of aging, I'm not sure I'd say they're exactly about typical themes of juvenile fiction. That said, I loved them as a kid but have had a deeper appreciation rereading them now

And here I thought you were just the son of the devil, Damian.

Pretty basic. When I came up with it I had the idea of the name representing my shielding of my teammates frim harm. Kinda stuck with me for a while now.

Or, for the shortcut:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Outside%20Smoker

It comes from the autumn of my senior year of college, when my swim coach assigned me to the outside lane in 3 different meets to win the 100 freestyle (the quick guys from the other teams, swimming in the middle of the pool and assuming they had won, didn't give 100% effort). The strategy didn't so much work in the championship meet at the end of the year, when I got 4th (guess who 1st through 3rd were?), but it was good fun while it lasted.

When my dorm floor was getting shirts for our basketball team that same autumn, I picked "outside smoker" for the name on the back of mine, and I picked 27 for my number because I thought it looked aesthetically pleasing.

Cheating?
I'm in a gunboat game and in Autumn 1904 Austria was 2/2 in support moves for Italy and Italy was 1/1 in support moves for Austria. Perhaps they just guessed correctly what each person was doing, but how do I contact the admins to report my concerns?

webDip YouTube Channel
Hello all,
I've had several people ask about the YouTube channel, so I just wanted to assure everyone that it is not dead. We were having some audio recording issues that were making the videos very time consuming to produce. Once I resolve that (hopefully very soon) I expect we will go back to a very frequent release schedule. Stay tuned!

The Art of Correspondence ... out in hardback
For those who prefer the old fashioned (but alas, far more expensive) way of reading. This book is now available in hardback, at least in the UK. I'm not sure about the USA and if someone could confirm ya or nay, I'd appreciate it.
