Goldfinger. Thank you for organizing this tournament. It is much appreciated.
On page one of this thread, Abgemacht wrote "and tie breaks by, in order, SC count, games won, 2-ways, 3-ways, 4-ways etc.", which included "game won", but then I saw that this does not match the tournament rules page, so I wanted to ask for clarification.
It is a legitimate opinion that more draws may be more worthy, Goldfinger, but by your logic, it would also seem that in the spirit of the tournament, 4 hard fought four-way draws could be rewarded over 3 hard-fought three-way draws as well. Since the paragraph was going linear in the other direction (i.e. "number of 2-way draws, number of 3-way draws, number of 4-way draws, etc"), I assumed that solo wins would be ahead of 2-way draws. It seems to me you are going in both directions from 2-way down, and then for some reason solo wins are last?
When Abgemacht improperly stated it before, perhaps based on his familiarity with other tournaments, no one corrected that statement until now. Otherwise, in that rare circumstance, you would have a mess trying to explain which tie-breaker you were using, and that you were using a non-linear formula only when it came to solo wins.
Nevertheless, it would be rare, indeed, and the important thing is that it is stated and clarified in advance, as you have now done.
Thanks again. Looking forward to the fun!
